I liked the texts acting as a tutorial, and the bit of fun you put into it. You implemented a lot of features for a game jam, which is nice! As others said, I would have loved gamepad support, or at least another key to jump! The bats were blocking me sometimes, and hitting R reset my position but not theirs. I’d like them to continue flying when I’m not here, that way the path would not be obstructed. Overall pretty fun, and fits the them just enough is my opinion. Well done!

I like the idea of this one. Pretty good start. I really with I could use a controller since I'm not good at all playing a platformer on a keyboard.
I like the metroidvania aspect where you can re-explore areas once you get an upgrade and I think you captured the basics here. I liked the secret areas as well.
I did run into a couple games where bats "soft-locked" the game. first time I was under one of the 1-block high 'doors' and had a bat on either side blocking me from moving. They weren't damaging me so I couldn't respawn. Second time a bat landed on my head at a bonfire and I couldn't move left or right or jump.
Looking forward to playing more of your stuff (or this game if you decided to expand on it).
Nice work on the controls they feel very smooth ! I would have liked to see a game a little more polished but it's pretty good ! Keep up !
A pretty large amount of implemented mechanics for a game jam game, nice! Fits the theme and fun to play. Although I wish you could hit the normal monsters like you can hit the bosses.
Theme: The game connects with discovery and exploration very well. I enjoyed getting through all spots and paths. And even after playing twice, it never gets tiring. 5 stars.
Fun: The game was super fun, I enjoyed how broken the controls were and overall I liked how the run and walljump worked. 5 stars.
Controls: The controls work but they are very explotable and even broken as heck, they still do the job. However there is a couple, ahem, a lot of things to fix about them, like gangbanged by a couple of bats, infinite walljump, insane running speed... 2 stars.
Graphics: The background is clearly taken out of internet and rescalated. I know this because as an artist I notice the mixels and I happened to find a similar thing yesterday. Anyway, second thing that makes me downvote it is the 2d vectorial enemies combined with pixel art. 2 stars.
Audio: It's pretty good but there is no soundtrack. Therefore I will give it a maximum of 3 stars as I can't review something that doesn't exist.
Originality: Let's be fair and square, this a platformer with super large level design so the broken controls look less broken. 1 star.
Moving around in the world is fun and feels good, I would've wished for a double jump reset after wall climbs though. I enjoyed the secrets and easter eggs but the enemies were a bit lacking, some form of throwback and visual feedback when you get hit would've been great. The ambience had too much bass and it was too loud so I had to turn the volume down.
The bass! The bass! It was so loud that my voice was doing that thing when you're in an airplane as it's taking off. It's a good game for pretending to be a Dalek.
Anyway; the movement is really fun and fluid - especially once you've unlocked the dash and walljump abilities - and it feels good to explore the remote parts of the map and find fun little secrets.
