I really like the idea! However, it's hard to really form a strategy with how many unknowns are in the game.

  • I know how much damage I'll do but I don't know how much health the enemy has
  • I can't see what cards are in my draw pile or my discard pile
  • I don't get to see my hand until after I've moved

This could be a really cool game if you presented more info to the player so that they can make more informed choices. Still, very impressive that you managed this much in the jam's timeframe! Well done!

Oh, and I forgot to mention - the first time I tried the game, my first move was to play a "super ranged" card against a Jack in the top corner of the map, and I killed it in one hit but the game froze. Not sure what happened there but it all worked fine on my second try!

Hi, thanks for the feedback :D. These are all things I was intending to implement but I ran out of time! I did this on my own so it was a bit of a scramble to get things done in time

The whole turned based combat done in 48 hours? You are insane! Great submission!

Developer

Haha, thanks! I did this as a solo project as well

Fun game, nice to see something without literal dice.

Developer

Haha, thanks! It was only about an hour from the end that the enemies went from dice to cards

Neat game. Loved the interaction of hovering cubes. Good use of music too. Good job.

Thanks :D

The game stopped working at some point, possible there was a messge or something off screen.

I can understand what you were going for, I'm not sure the music really fit well, or it would have been nice for some variation, and the art was simple but it could have worked if the game was perhaps zoomed in on the player some more and with some nice animations.

It would be nice to see what the area of effect could be when you hover over the cards because many times I picked a card and then it was wasted because no enemies were close to me. It also would have been nice if the enemy itself lit up or rasied up when aiming instead of only the tilemap square, especially in isometric, because sometimes I missed my target which was also frustrating. Feedback to show you hit or to show your player got hit would also help a lot

I can see what this game wants to be and I think it could be something enjoyable but definitely need some work.

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I was planning on implementing all of this however just ran out of time. The game suddenly stopping is because I limited the turn count to 100 when I was debugging it but forgot to remove it :/ . An easy fix but that is the way with game jams

The game just stopped working after a while for me, and I'm not exactly sure what caused it as I didn't do anything.

Him, the game suddenly stopping is because I limited the turn count to 100 when I was debugging it but forgot to remove it :/.  Check back after the game jam for a fixed version!
