That's amazing! The presentation is among of the best that I have seen in the entire Jam and the mechanics are really solid. I played a round with my wife and I really enjoyed it.
I agree with the other comments that it's not the best move to make a multiplayer for a Jam without time to code an AI, but anyway, it's a nice entry.
Is there a Star fox ref ? ^^
Nice art !
Not intended but a bit of inspired.
We decided to mix two themes for our game an animal and a background setting. Then we rolled dices and we got foxes and space so we thought it would be too smiliar to Star Fox.
Then we rolled another dice and got wolves, then we thought "Why not?" hahaha
Thanks for your comment!
I've read on your game page that this is your first jam experience, if that's the case I am really proud of you guys. 😁 The game has a good presentation, a bold theme, and the most important part: you guys delivered!
some feedback, I hope it helps:
- don't try to make a multiplayer game without AI, it will subtract a lot from your ratings and feedback you could receive. I know that AIs can be hard and you had little time, that's why most games in the jam are asymmetric: you and "the enemies" have different powers and abilities. That will make your life so easier. As an example, you could play your game against an AI with preprogrammed moves (the player will know the enemies' next movement) and plan accordingly, but the enemies have more raw power. It is super hard to make a great AI in symmetric games.
- never depend on randomness on your main game loop, it is very frustrating because it is simply almost always unfair. You can use randomness but remember to give players some level of meaningful choice: as an example, you can have different wolves with different skills so placement becomes very important!
again, you should be proud of yourselves! great job! =)
Thank you so much for your feedback. Sorry for the confusing descripton. This is not our first Game Jam, although it's the first Jam we managed to finish and delivery something playable (also our first time on GMTK Game Jam).
Yeah almost everyone who commented here told us about the very same problem with our multiplayer game. To be honest I'm trying to figure out why that was so big mistake, But I'm thankful you explained more accurately the problem behind it.
Again, thanks so much for your feedback, very much appreciated!
oh my bad! I made some confusion. 😅
I really wish there was an AI, but the game looks pretty cool!
It is quite a bold move to make a multiplayer game during an online jam!
As the vas majority of the playtesters, I didn't managed to play it with someone, but I could see the potential of your work. I think that it is probably fun to play in the right conditions, and I do respect a lot the fact that you took the risk to submit a multiplayer entry, so, congrats :)
I did not enjoy this game (solo. Making forced 2 player games is a high risk in my opinion). The idea is simple but I can behind that and see some form of potential. The artstyle is very cute and music was good too. 1/3/4
Stay crunchy.
I totally agree with you! We were very focused on finishing something playable (bcs we've never had finished anything before in a Jam), so we took the easy path, a 2-player game so the game logic would be the simpliest. But we received a few feedbacks similar to your, including one asking us for a single player mode versus IA. But it would be impossible in a two-day Jam.
Thank you so much for your feedback it's very constructive and much appreciated.
Heyho.
Although it might seem impossible I can assure you it is not impossible. You probably realize it once you tested many games yourself (which you totally should do! I mean, you don't evolve yourself if you stay enclosed in your personal space. There's even a game that simulates (on a very rough scale) a lot of characters completely on their own.
Really, get out there and test games. Learn and keep on being a dev.
Stay crunchy.
I'm totally going to test the games!
Yeah we plan to participate more on Game Jams in the future and keep developing games. One step at a time at our own pace.
We really went the safe path this time but we'll sure dare more in the future.
Thanks again for the feedback!
Intuitive and fun gameplay, nice art style, UI and overall presentation.
I tried some entries on the jam that where barely playable. And this one even leads for replays 🥰
Thank you so much for your feedback. It's very much appreciated. We are glad you liked it.
This is a great achievement for our team because it's the first time we finished developing a game in a Jam. And that's our first time in GMTK Game Jam as well.
Thanks for your comment, take care! 😊
tks!
Nice one! I like UI layout!
Thank you so much. We are really proud of our UI as well, it was a great contribution of @valdirfgb .
tks :)
