It's insane this works as well as it does, I build a lot of Gunpla and it feels really close to the experience, very impressive job!
Really cool model kit maker, very relaxing and almost zen.
The few sound effects it has helps immensely, but I would love to have some kind of lo-fi radio or something in the back during the gameplay.
The three different models offer a nice difficulty scale, and I would LOVE to see a more polished version with more models after this jam!
Nicely done! Very chill and relaxed experience!
Oh this is really cool! I have never seen a model kit building game, this has to be the most unique idea I have seen so far. Great job!
Really good looking game, very fun to play. I can finally make my childhood dreams come true and build a mech ;D Congrats!
I WAS LOOKING FOR A GAME LIKE THIS I LOVE MODEL KITS! i love the polish in how parts fall after you snip them off the sprues. awesome chill game
Snipping the parts off was the first thing I implemented. You can't have the true model kit experience without the trees.
This was a lot of fun. I remember Zachtronics including a minigame similar to this in Last Call BBS, but that was in 2D and a lot less entertaining. It would be cool to see features like posing the models after they're finished, or being able to connect parts to the wrong places (accidentally or on purpose). I could see myself playing that for hours lol. Like working on your build in Armored Core but only worrying about how fresh it looks instead of the stats
Two features I really wanted to add.
Originally you could disabled the strict attach setting, then I disabled it because it tended to look weird. I probably should have just let people be creative.
Posing, it wouldn't have been too hard, but I just ran out of time .
Do you plan to keep working on it after the jam? Either way, you've definitely earned a follow.
Also, did you do all the models yourself, or use an asset pack from somewhere? I tried doing some mech modeling a bit ago and came up with some decent stuff, but it took a while to figure out how to create interesting shapes while maintaining planar face
Easy 5's for me - Great visuals of mechs, very chill gameplay, just what i wanted. For the last mech went for some Megatron vibes xd - just misses the Decepticon logo or something. Maybe you should add a "add sticker" feature. Well done!
Thanks, I didn't even consider stickers, would be a fun addition. Not too hard to implement either, outside art.
Very nice concept, I really love physically based games!
Good choice of engine for this one, the global illumination is gorgeous on those kinds of materials (my GPU is screaming but it's ok xD). Add a chill soundtrack, a little depth of field, some scratch details maps on your materials and it would really be a mood.
Some criticism: I would love to be able to cut the plastic while holding my clic, and the rotation to not steer in another direction that the one you give (with a lil more sensitivity too)!
Cheers fellow mecha lover o7
Yeah I meant to add low graphic options to the game. Apologies to computer.
No problem, resources are meant to be used after all >:)
Wow very satisfying, nice job replicating what it's like to put together model kits!
The only critique I have is there's a minor typo in the intermediate kit instructions where one of the shoulders is labeled A4 but should be A3.
Thanks, yeah, second kit was definitely the most rushed, it was riddled with bugs.
I'm the team mate. Game of jam some are saying.
Thanks so much, cool color scheme btw.
My teammate spent more time on this than his own game. 10/10
Watching my friend just casually build and play with this for 40 minutes now. Very chill, would've been awesome with some cc free lofi music track! Very nice! Also waited till 4am so I could rate haha
