This is a really fun and creative take on both the theme and on tower defense games in general.
I love the artstyle used here, its simple but very evocative.
One thing i did notice is that some of the germs are very unbalanced, especially the ones that spread themselves, specifically the worms were basically essential to winning every time, id suggest making every spreading germ relatively weak, so theres a bit of an element cycle going on with weak spreading germs < single powerful ones < gimmicky germs/thorns.
Thorns and shrooms are op in their own way, since the game has some emergant properties you might miss some strategies (I have aswell as the developer) such as placing a shroom on the enemies field to kill their RAD spores or placing a healer behind the thorns to make a very powerful wall. Thank you for playing the game and I am glad you were able to find a viable strategy.
Wow this game feels super great to play and is really fun. The only thing letting it down is the unintuitive selection and spawning, I always forget to press right click.
Yeah thats due to a bug I wasn't able to fix, hopefully it didn't ruin the experience. Thank you for playing the game :)
I had fun playing this, great take on the theme ;)
Thank you :D
These are some very well designed cards that all work very well together. A lot of synergy and counters that make you think. It never felt too difficult and would love to see this expanded with maybe multiplayer. Super polished as well. I have the same gripes with the deselect as everyone else, but overall FANTASTIC job! This game is criminally under reviewed!!
Thank you so much for playing! Yeah I wish i had fixed that bug and multiplayer with a game like this would be awesome. We might revisit the concept in the future.
Really nice ! The chess like card game is a very good idea !
Thanks for playing, glad you find the concept interesting.
Veoma dobra igrica, muzika je fenomenalna, pixel art je predobar i koncept je veoma interesantan i kreativan. Bravo majstori!
Hvala puno, drago nam je da ti se igra svidjela!
I got a little lost at the start, but the music and the graphics made me stick around a little more, I can say that I really like the concept, it feels very responsive and dynamic
Thank you for giving the game a fair chance :), I thought most people wouldn't give it enough time for it to get fun. Glad you enjoyed it in the end.
Really creative game, I love trying to figure out the strategies between the different microbes. Only gripe I had is how you have to right click to deselect a card everytime, would have preferred if it just switched over if you pressed the card. Otherwise really fun game that I spent way too long playing.
Thank you! You actually can click to switch to a different card but because of a bug it doesn't work most of the time so I had to add the deselect thing :(
I really like the concept of the game! I like how it looks and how it feels.
We're really glad you enjoyed the game! Thanks for playing.
I really loved this game! The idea is fun, the graphics and sound are really nice and simple but efficent!
Got a bit lost at the start, maybe a tutorial that explained the game while playing would've been much better, and also idk why but selecting different card was not really responsive and sometimes it placed another creature but i guess i did something wrong myself here, but still really cool conecept, really 5/5
Thank you for playing the game! We're glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately the programmer wasn't able to fix this bug as he wasn't able to recreate it, but if you want to avoid it, all you have to do is to deselect the card before choosing another one. You can deselect it by right clicking.
Oooh ok completly missed the deselect feature, nice guess i'll play again later!
Yeah there was a bug where it wouldn't select the correct card, you can avoid this by pressing right click to cancel a placrment before choosing your next card. I lost too much tine on the third day so I sadly had to settle for a text tutorial :(, anyways thank you for playing and im glad you had fun despite the issues :)
no problem!
The game looks and feels incredibly good and has no business being this fun to play. I really hope you get more ratings
Thank you so much for playing, didn't think people would have so much fun honestly :)
Amazing game all around. Feels good to play, is the right amount of challenging, looks great, and sounds great. Not much to say other than excellent work!
Yo! Thanks for playing, big fan of your games and channel, always nice to see you around. Thank you for playing and good luck in the rating period!
A very original idea and an interpretation of the theme. I enjoyed finding out strategies to effectively destroy the enemies royal germ. A very good amount of polish for a jam game. The sound effect and music fit the game and it's art style nicely. Although some actions or controls could be communicated more clearly (for example right click to discard or what germ is currently selected).
Yeah i feel we could have had the controls displayed in a much much cleaner manner, I lost a lot of time on the third day and had to settle on the text which was worder in a weird way and took refactoring multiple times and still hasen't reached a satisfying result. Couldn't thank you more for taking your time to play the game!
Played a couple games of this and I have to say I'm very impressed.
It feels very cohesive and has a nice aesthetic and animations.
I agree with the other commenter that I initially had some confusion as to which card was being placed, but once I figured it out I created a formidable WORM ARMY and took over the world.
Very nice!!
Ah, I see you discovered the infamous worm strategy, thats great! Thanks for playing :>
Okay, after some playing: The game is very fun! Especially as an entry on a short jam like this, I'm super impressed *insert sparkly anime eyes*
If you decide to continue working on this game, I have two ideas how to make the experience a bit smoother yet.
1. A restart button - Especially in the first few rounds where I only started to learn the core mechanics, I would have loved to just end the attempt and start new xD
2. I found myself confused several times about which card I had equipped and was placing, since the sprite on the mouse doesn't change. Apparently it wasn't always the last card I had clicked? It might be cool to add a visual aid for which germ I'm about to plant.
Edit: Playing some more, I can see that I can rightclick to discard what is on my mouse, and pick up something else XD My bad, but maybe something to add in the tutorial?
Overall, I am obsessed with this! Very outside-the-box design and it makes me feel like a microbiologist, which I adore! I'm going to check out some more projects you uploaded later because dang, I love your style.
Also the art is super inspiring!!
Wow, thank you for playing, I am very glad you had as much fun as you did! Your interpretation of the game is very very charitable :D
The sprite not changing is a bug that happend for other people but I couldn't replicate myself so i wasnt able to fix it :(
I thought about adding a restart button, but at that point it was already too late and yeah, with no settings the accessibility issues for people with dyslexia and color blindness are pretty apparent and is definitely something to add in a hypothetical release.
Thank you again for playing!
I've played through about 2 endings, and I gotta say this game is really really nice. The visuals are perfect, the gameplay is fun, strategic, and engaging, and it's consistent overall. Great submission guys!
Very glad you enjoyed it, I'm gonna play your thingy later today.
Hi! I just started this game, I'll likely come back to comment more elaborately after playing for a while.
First impression: I *love* the idea. Very curious, educative (which makes me personally extremely excited) and great art, too! Fun and inviting <3
Only major downside I can see: The text of the cards is both very small (playing on desktop) and moves! It looks fun but is extremely hard to read. This makes the game hardly accessible for people with dyslexia and/or vision disabilities. If you decide to make your text move, please include an option to toggle it off.
Again, I'm super excited about this game, and am hyped about getting into playing it now! Thank you for sharing your work!! <3
