How does your game fit the theme?
The core mechanic of our game involves expanding and shrinking the circle of light cast by your lantern, which can reveal more of the maze while risking waking up enemies. That element of scaling the player's field of vision up and down was how we chose to implement the "Built to Scale" theme.

A bit hard to not wake up the clowns since the light take a long time to shrink back.
Very good atmosphere and unique art. The concept is pretty interesting and holds a lot of potential. I see the connection to the "scale" part of the theme but the "built to" is a bit lacking. Well done!
Ooh, pretty cool concept! I love the idea of a toy-based horror game. The light mechanic had some potential, but I think it wasn't fully utilized. I wish the game had been focused a little more on stealth and less on simply outrunning the clowns, but that might be personal preference. Artwork is really nice and fitting the theme very well, but I think making the light source look a bit more like a lantern, i.e. making the light more orange-ish and maybe adding a tiny bit of jitter, might help to create an even more sinister atmosphere. Still, I quite enjoyed this and made my way to the very end :)
Cool art and style, I think the light mechanic could be tweaked a bit, it almost felt better to use first have a look around, die, then redo level with more knowledge
Great art! Clowns looked scary (and I don't like scary movies or something similar) but I enjoyed looking at them
this was different!! I was enjoying this.
Very well done! I loved the art and sound design. The concept of resizing the lantern was a great take on the theme, and I love how you complemented it by having the camera zoom out as you make the lantern bigger. I especially liked the level design, particularly the way that the monkey is introduced and then later used. If I have one quibble, it's that on the last level, 2 of the 3 keys don't seem to add much to the puzzle and just make repeat attempts to get that third key more annoying. Overall, this is some great work!
The illustration style is lovely and I like the balance between seeing more of the map and waking up enemies. I do wish there was a bit more mechanical complexity and a health bar, but I can see you worked really hard for the jam. Well done!
Spooky atmosphere, creative light-scaling mechanic, and great art-animations. Some enemy difficulty tweaks needed. amazing work!!! owo
Don't see horror games in game jams often... (Or maybe that's just me?)
Either way, it was fun.
I really like the game style! Although if you are going for a horror feeling I would probably suggest adding more contrast to the picture by making the ground darker and adding highlights to the characters.
The gameplay idea is interesting, although I think the light shrinks a little to slow, so it’s not about hiding your light near enemies, but instead carefully moving to not get them in your light radius. Making it move faster, or adding ability to both grow the light for visibility and shrink it to hide would improve the fame feel. On that note I would suggest checking out how the light works in Outer Wilds DLC, I think it’s done incredible there and may give you some ideas for improvement.
Overall, it is a pretty enjoyable game, and you rarely see horror games in game jams. Good job!
hey there! I went to check the game you recommended; do you mean that you would rather be able to see the rest of the map and have the light expand and shrink to do some stuff, eg. activating some traps or collects stuff?
I’m talking more about the game feel, i.e. how fast you can switch between “states” of light there. In your game it doesn’t really feel like I’m hiding the light when I let go of a button because it shrinks too slowly. So I’m better of just being careful with movement.
But also that the states serve quite different functions: normal states let’s you see in some radius around you, you can focus (enlarge) the light into a cone to see further but also interact with puzzle objects, and you can hide (shrink) the light so that enemies don’t see you but you also don’t see much.
The art, visuals and the creative minds behind the game are just 💯.
A little more polish and features can make it a standout game.
Be sure to check mine:))
Actually scary! very cool use of the theme with the flashlight!
Very successfully atmospheric and tense game and very well executed. For me it felt like there was a slight balancing issue with difficulty, especially with how quickly enemies are triggered, but the game is still fun and very playable. Nice work!
I loved playing your game! It has such a great atmosphere with the beautiful art and visual effects, the fitting ambient music and sound effects which make the player feel every action (even walking!).
The gameplay is really fun. It makes you anticipate the clown box sound with every inch you move. The monkey box is a great mechanic and allows for clever level design. Also, the fact that the clowns stop chasing you after a while is a nice touch IMO.
Overall, this is a great game. Well done!
Nice!
Great art style. Love idea with scaling of light
Great job on the animations! They look so smooth and cartoony, I absolutely love it. Cool game, great work!
The animations are amazing! The atmosphere was intense especially on the last level and i gotta say 10 levels is very impressive
The character animations are just gorgeous! And it is very tense, the first time the clapping monkey opened and I got rushed by all the clowns was pretty terrifying. Great work!
This is somehow really fun to play! I dont konw how you made it but just so good!
the art is definitily a best
