Not bad! This game definitely has potential!

As you said, it is a prototype. I can see the concept and it is nice. I also love Wallace and Gromit!

The retro style is nice, and the idea itself is interesting. There are some rough edges in terms of bugs but I guess I can forgive that since it is gamejam.

this is a very fun idea omg

an endless runner where you have to build the level so the train doesnt die? Genius!

I found myself continuously going so i could get the train as far as i could, it was a really good experience, even if i did encounter a few bugs. Very exciting! Id love to see this ironed out!

I was VERY happy with the concept haha, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

The small thing I was really happy with was points being gained not by distance, but by the amount of tracks crossed. So unnecessarily long, roundabout tracks will increase your score more than just straight lines avoiding obstacles, which adds complexity and risk since loops and diversions are more likely to be in the path of said obstacles.
Going to try and polish it up a bit this weekend, thank you for giving it a go!

The train-hitch glitches are quite rough but the concept is interesting and I’ll definitely give this game more of a play once a patched post-jam version is out. The minimalistic art style is also quite cool. Good work and good luck squashing those bugs!

On an unrelated note I suddenly have the itch to watch the Wallace & Gromit films.

Thank you! long weekend so I should hopefully have some leeway to refine things a bit
They still hold up! think the shorts are available on youtube as well :o

Very cute art assets, enjoyed the retro feel. I did have quite a bit of trouble understanding how to make the train move properly. I think this game is worth continuing to pursuing and working on though!

Elephant in the room.  The glitches are rough, glitches are going to be common but these do get in the way.  However, this is a cool concept and I was having fun when the glitches weren't affecting it too much.  Here's some suggestions if you want to expand this further: randomized tracks instead of selecting them (so you get a preview of your next track but that each next track is random so you have to deal with what you have, starting further to the right, and finally have the train stop when there's no track in front of it.  Overall, I think this is a great concept.

Thank you! I was really fighting this one right up to the last second, definitely agree on the train stopping on the tracks instead of 1 tile past them and the general glitchyness. I'll see if I can test out randomized tracks,  it's not something I'd considered initially and I can see how it'd shake things up.

I completely understand, I had a couple of bugs and issues with my game up to the last minute, so I patched it with less than satisfactory solutions.  Best of luck with your entry.

Great idea, I enjoy games like this. Clean artwork that fits perfectly.

Thank you! very inspired by the chrome dinosaur game, big fan of limited palates and small sprite ratios in general

I immediately recognized it. I planned to suggest to include it in some browser in offline mode :D

This is a pretty cool idea and I really like the art style but it is a bit hard to play with how often the train was "hitching" for me.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! completely agree, after the voting period finishes up i'll try and fix the major bugs. I like the concept enough to want to get it past "playable" into "fun to play"

It's a pretty fun game with clean artwork and I love that it's inspired by Wallace and Gromit. Unfortunately, the glitches do hold it back quite a bit.
