Playable chess for a 48 hours - its a big work

Nice game! I like chess so this was pretty fun. I like how you go against a real chess bot (though it would've been super epic if it would factor in the switch). The game is very functional so it lacks polish, but it was still fun and a really cool application of the theme. I managed to beat it on the highest difficulty by walking my king into a checkmate right before it switched B)

Interesting game! I still loose a lot though (I'm bad at chess)

I was going to write out that it didn't hurt to loose queen in 6 turn agains little baby, because then I had the side without the queen, but then I lost the queen at another side, and after some time even the whole game.

But it was fun to switch between attacking and then trying to survive next 10 turns, really great idea. Finally even someone bad at chess as I am could experience the endgame in winning side (for a moment at least).

This is a really neat concept! Simple and elegant, fits the prompt very nicely. It'd be fun to see a multiplayer version!

This was our idea at first before we came up with another one! im glad someone did it! its pretty fun!

This makes chess actually interesting again! And please, add a local-hot-seat game mode!

Cool spin on a famous game ! Making a chess game in 2 days is really impressive , well done !

Lovely. It really brings to the forefront two of Chess' core ideas: You have to think N+1 steps ahead, and you have to put yourself in your opponent's shoes.

this is a very good interpretation of the theme and it's crazy how one minor change to the game can make it so different. building a chess engine in so little time (with ai) is pretty crazy impressive and i applaud you for that (especially since it worked so well. the only issue i saw was that kings can't seem to capture pieces which are mating them). i'm really bad at chess so i couldn't beat the easy mode but it was fun to try.

Wow, great work! It's really impressive that you managed to code an entire chess rules engine in just 48 hours.
I'd love it if you checked my game out too by the way (:

Seems we had a similar idea XD I really like the execution, very clean !

As a chess fan I really like this clever take on the game. I enjoyed playing it a lot

Amazimg game. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this a couple times, losing most of the time, drawing once. I'm really bad at Chess. Only critique is that the Return button that pops up after the game doesn't work.

I’m aware of this issue. I would have fixed it by now if updates weren’t locked

This is a really cool idea and it's crazy how well it works for a game made in 48 hours! I found the best strategy to be sabotaging myself and then biding my time until I'm in control of the side that's overwhelmingly more powerful.

I must say - I thought I was decent at chess, since I play it quite a bit - but here, I had no idea what the best strategy was. What an interesting variant, I would love to try it with a real player.  Also props for creating a proper chess game in such a short amount of time, it's not easy to program all of the rules correctly (especially stuff like pins to the king or en passant)

The way of figuring out what moves are actually legal is just by making the move, seeing if the king is in check, and unmaking the move. Really smart and it’s super easy.

Switching players after a set period of turns is a deceptively simple mechanic that actually leads to a lot of depth in decision making. Great job!
