Nice mechanics! I liked that different characters have different abilities and that the camera changes the target when holding the lantern. Also, managing distance in some puzzles to survive through that. I read note about checkpoints that they work only if two siblings here. For me, checkpoints don't give enough feedback to player to say "I saved you progress". Just a little different animation would be enough.

Glad you liked the game and thank you for the feedback!

amazing work, the athmosphere of the game is really nice and the way the brother and sister work together to solve puzzles is great. The light mechanic is what sets it apart from other similar games to me.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game :D I also think we ended up with something that's essentially just a chain between the 2 characters, but felt more flexible

the art and tone of the game was really nice.

Yes, it's all thanks to out 2D Artist + 2D animator (and also somehow became eventual Game Lead) Steven! You should check out his work and follow him! He got 7 years of Asperite 2D pixel art + animation experience. Although it couldn't have been done without all of us ;D

love the variety of mechanics you put into this, cute artwork/atmosphere too. jumping w/ both characters at once to stay in the light really rocked my smol brain

thank you! yes, if you are ambidextrous, I imagine it may be easier. Or  when you are playing with two ppl, but that's a whole different challenge with communication perhaps ;)

Very cool and interesting work. Found a bug - throw a cube on a girl. Overall, I liked it, keep up the good work!

Developer

Oh! when you throw a cube on a girl, does the girl get stuck perhaps?  Would love to know what the bug is exactly so that we can keep it in mind and fix it in the future since we are hoping to develop more complete version of the game even after the jam!

Great concept for the theme with needing both characters to solve puzzles and having them stay close with the lantern light. Cool concept!

Developer

thank you very much! we are proud of our work :D

That was fun! The player sprites were nicely drawn and the level design made clever use of the mechanics at play. Nice work!
