How does your game fit the theme?
My game takes place on a set of moving trains. The carriages start connected but can be detached from each other, causing carriages not attached to an engine to quickly slow down.

Did your team create the vast majority of the art during the 48 hours?

This is an interesting take, but I feel like some core functionality is lacking/lacking some polish.

For example: It is only after reading these comments that I realized that you could jump between trains with the right mouse button. For me this is very weird. You use the left mouse button to throw, but a very different button to move over? Yet pressing left mouse button again just re-throws the lasso???

What I would have expected, and would for me have felt more natural, is that left mouse button is both throwing. And when it grabs something to move over. This way the same button does both the initial and the fellow up action. And makes it easier to learn the game.

Doing it like this you can reserve the right mouse button to unentangle your lasso. Which makes left to engage, and right to cancel/disengage.

Pretty unique take on the theme! Took me a while to get used to the controls, and having very limited vision in front of you is definitely a problem. Might also need to up the volume of trains on the rails since it's really easy to run out of trains to hop to?

I love the idea of having multilple things to manage: the fuel, collision avoidance etc.

The instructions felt overwhelming at first but it turned out way easier actually.

I wish I could see further ahead because a couple times when I saw another train it was already too late (although this issue was already mentioned in other comments).

Adding some fitting music could elevate the experience as well.

Also, seems like there is no reason to keep any carts besides the engine, maybe something could be added to make these more important, e.g. using these carts for additional fuel storage.

Overall, this is a fun and enjoyable concept, add a bit of polish and it will be a great game. Nicely done!

Basically, all of this. A good upbeat western theme would've really pulled it all together, and not being able to see far ahead -- especially as a switch came at the same time as a new engine -- made some deaths feel cheap. But a real clever take on the theme!

there's a fun irony here - the last 3 hours of the jam were cut off for me because I sing in a choir, and the next thing I was planning on doing if I had the time was adding music to the game, so I was stopped from adding music by different music.

Heey, fellow choir-singer! Sad that you got kept from adding to it, but hope you had a good time nonetheless!

Very neat. I really enjoy the idea of jumping between trains

Love the feel of jumping between trains and stealing their fuel, however after a bit it felt like I ran out of trains to jump to? It definitely has promise and I enjoyed playing it!

Jumping train to train and shooting around. Its actually nice game. just needs more juice and some extra mechanics. maybe we may rob trains, kill passengers or other getting into gun fight with other outlaws. ;)

Hi Diatere!

Great artwork in this awesome little endless runner! Once I learned that my puny pistol was used to blow up other trains, the game became instantly more fun.

I do think there could be some improvements. It might have just been because I am bad at it, but I felt like I needed more viewing space to make more informed decisions about which trains to hop to. A lot of the time I would get cruising on a train only to have something out of view blow me up.

Additionally, I think the player should be incentivized to move between trains more often. Maybe there are sacks of money that they can steal or people they can rob.

Overall a great start! I love the art and the sound effects. Good luck in the rest of the jam!

Best,

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with both of your main criticisms, but unfortunately I didn't have time to fix them.

This was very good! I actually found myself wanting to keep playing. My only complaint is that were wasn't much content to do after you mastered the mechanics.

Very interesting idea and cool interpretation of the theme! The presentation is great, though it's taking me a little while to figure out how everything works. Very happy though to see see another pirate themed game!

A very nice idea! Fuel management felt a little useless, though - it’s much easier to switch trains instead of clicking 30 times :) Anyways, really enjoyed the game, good job!

Important note! (My fault for not mentioning), you can click and hold for picking up fuel. Thank you for playing :)

I liked the game's idea. Having to manage fuel while switching between colliding trains is pretty fun. I wish there was a warning sign when trains appear, but that might be just me. Overall I really liked it.

This was one of several things i likely would have added if i had had more time, but unfortunately I ran out. Thanks for playing though, glad you enjoyed it!
