fun but so confusing due to both a reading tutorial and the fact that chained pieces can't capture
Clever chess variation! The re-chaining aspect adds a lot to the tactics once pieces start coming off the board.
My biggest wish would be pawn promotion; I actually landed in a situation where underpromotion to knight won the opponent's queen, but couldn't capitalize on it.
Good twist to the classic chest game. Keep working in the idea :D
An interesting idea, which I think could be taken further with a bit of polish. Having the pieces move instantly without an animation made it difficult to see how things were moving and what moves the AI was taking. I think if I was playing with someone that would be improved. The pieces getting stuck when their linked piece is taken, and rejoining up, adds a very clever strategic layer, and I'm very impressed you got any AI working at all, even if it isn't perfect. Well done!
This is a very interesting concept, but the AI checked itself and the game continued like normal. I would love to see a more polished version of this, if you need help let me know.
This is super impressive technically, but I think I am too dumb to understand the implications of the new chess rules, is it a complete different game? Is it just a variant? I would need more time to study it.
Curious mechanic, very original. Well done!
I managed to win the first time, though I was a little confused, but I still liked it
Very interesting, I liked it. If I had friends to play it with it would be more enjoyable of course but playing with AI satisfied me even if I got confused.
Thank you for showing valid movement options on pieces. Made learning the rules of the modified game much easier.
Interesting take on chess, but it's a bit odd that for winning you need to eat the king. But still, really good! I enjoyed it.
Never thought of a game of chess where you control both characters at once. Interesting.
An Interesting concept for sure, great execution as well!
It's an interesting take on chess. Although I found a problem when I played against the AI, the opponent moved his king into check, which would be an illegal move in chess.
Original idea and good realization, though imho it would be better to make pieces black&white and just physically connect chained pieces.
I think that a physical connection could make the screen a bit cluttered as pieces get relinked across the board. The original idea was to have the main body of the pieces be black and white and only have the bottom of the piece change color, but that was beyond my skill level at this point.
The mechanics take some getting used to and the music is a bit annoying, but this twist on chess really highlights the aspect of different chess pieces serving as a strategic protection for each other. Well done!
Interesting concept, I liked the color coordination! Also props for actually making AI. As a heads up, pawns don't promote, I suppose that was intentional but it still feels a bit weird.
As far as the pawn promotion goes, it's about half that it would be too powerful if you could just run a pawn linked to a rook straight across the field, and half that I realized I forgot about that way too late.
Haha, I feel. I wish I could change/fix a few things in my game. All part of the jam though. Nice job on your entry!
As fellow submitter of "chess, but what if linked?" I had to check this one out.
It's a pleasant experience for sure. Bonus points for managing to make an AI where I ran out of time.
It was a bit hard to keep track on whose piece belonged to which player, but overall I like it.
Great idea, but I think this would be better if you could (a) take your own pieces, as at the moment the limitation in movement is really irritating (b) - pawns could capture and promote, and (C) - the bugs are fixed. Good concept, hope to see more from you in future,
Interesting idea. Slightly confusing at the start, I didnt really understand how the pieces interacted with eachother. With practice i'm sure this would be very complex.
