Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it :D

Original and surprising!  You've done alot of cool things in this short time span.  I did have some trouble navigating the maze game part. Honestly if you just made the game dealing with the terminal and following instructions from the text messages, it would've been good on it's own!  Well done.

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! You're not the only one to experience some issues in that regard and in hindsight I would've liked to add a small mechanic to help steer you towards your goal. Glad to hear you had fun though! That's the important thing in the end :D

This has put a smile in my face as my first pc was a 386sx , smart intro that is getting you right in the action and a nice consent , but some times im getting lost  maybe a little zoom out when the player is not moving would help, or a pointer to the initial position, i have read you comment about the time limit :) i can relate hehe ,other than than great job

Ahh that's awesome! My first computer experience was with MS DOS, so I do remember that whole console/terminal era. Yea, I definitely should've added some sort of indicator of where to go, but I'm glad you had fun! Thanks for your feedback :D

Fun concept! I just had a little bug where sometimes I couldn't open the file. I guess it happens when you jump directly to a subfolder in a single command line (eg. by typing "C:/folderA/folderB" instead of "C:" then "folderA" then "folderB").

Also, it may lack a bit of feedback while you're recovering a control you lost. I took damage so I lost my "A" control, and after that I was not sure if I would get it back or not. In the other hand it suits well with the "out of control" theme.

Good job overall :)

Haha yea, I would've liked to make the console part a bit stronger and have it accept some more commands, but that's gamejams for you. No time, never enough time.

That's also a good suggestion! I tried to convey that by having Razor talk to you at the start of level 2 and saying "to just back off a bit [after you get hit]". But the game could've definitely benefited from a little UI timer inside of the key or some such. At least it fit the theme though ;)

Thanks for your feedback! And thanks for playing :D

It took me a bit to get used to navigating the command line (my experience with git hindered me! [maybe consider having "help" print some help, though I didn't try this myself, so maybe you did]).

I really enjoyed the mazes! I liked the SFX that you did manage to get in there - the whole "desperate scramble for the exit" really put me in mind of the Fate games. If you revisit this idea in the future, I would put some kind of sound effect on the exit so that it's a bit easier to home in on (or some other kind of guidepost), but that's just me.

All in all, well done! I had fun playing!

Developer

Haha I can imagine that. I would've loved to add some more secrets, commands or general functionality into the console part of the game, but just didn't end up having the time. Based on the feedback I got so far, I do think that some sort of indicator of where the exit is might've been the right play after all. Lesson learned there!

Thanks so much for playing and taking the time to leave some feedback! Glad to hear you had fun!

Sweet concept and style, very immersive and fun to play! Background in the maze portion of the game makes me a little dizzy while I'm zooming around, and I think some indicator the goal port is nearby might help avoid getting too lost. Love the fantasy here of going deep into the hardware and getting literally attacked by viruses.

Developer

I was on the fence myself about adding some kind of UI indicator, but in the end I both ran out of time and wasn't sure if I should do it. Biggest reason I was hesitating was that the game would get even shorter, because the exploration aspect would take less time.

Thanks for playing though! And thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you had fun!
