Funny idea. I included it in my GMTK Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

I like this game's visual aesthetic and overall game idea! Things were so fast on my computer that I really could not grasp what was going on, and felt like timing my jumps was a game of luck, though. You said it's your first 2D game in Unity, right? If so, I'm curious if you've heard of and/or used something called delta time. If you haven't, it's something that is very helpful for keeping a game's speed of doing things consistent regardless of frame rate. If you have already heard of/used it, then ignore me. However, that aside, I do like this game's look, though I agree with the person below about the repeating textures - while I love the colours and the textures, it did start to hurt my eyes after a little while of playing. Nice work! :D

Thank you, i've used deltaTime in a 3D proyect i have, but right now i dont remember if i implemented it here but i'll make sure to it next time. Also i'll change the background style the next time i do something like this, i was trying to get an effect like the roads on F-Zero, with many parallel lines, but it didn't go as well as I expected. I'll keep learning and trying to do better games!

Definitely keep trying, buddy! Delta time is a useful thing to keep in mind, but I don't blame you if you forgot to add it - I do that sometimes. And I do like the style you were going for! Maybe it would've just worked a bit better if things were a little slower. :P Keep making games! :D

I like this idea/execution a lot! Would definitely like more levels, to give it even more of a "glitchloop" feeling. I think there might be some merit to increasing the speed more slowly at the start to ease people into what is happening. As long as the spikes/jumps are closer together I don't think it would get too boring?

Anyway, even though it was short, it looked and felt really good!

Developer

Thank you!, I might do a post-Jam version someday to make a better use of the ideas and enhance the camera allowing the player to know whats going on more easily, and might do something to change the speed in different forms.

The first blue zone can almost be completed by just mashing the button.
The graphics and the effects are pretty good, but the controls not very responsive
but i'm not a geometry dash fan so that's not my type of game

Developer

I had some problems at the start so i couldn't use so many time on level design and movement polish, but thanks for the feedback, i'll try to do better next time

Really cool concept! Where most other games take stuff away from the player, this idea added to the player experience in a super neat way.

Thank you!

No mac version, I am interested to check out this game, but I could not play it, you have selected mac, but when I downloaded it there was only .exe for windows

its. unique name of the game!

Developer (1 edit)

Oh, im sorry, i thought i prepared it so it can be used on mac, but i couldn't check because i don't have one, my bad. Thanks for the info!
I fixed the platform tags now, sorry for the inconvenience, its my first time both joining a jam and publishing a game made in Unity.
