It's a neat concept but it was really hard to play on my high-DPI screen. Even zoomed in as far as I could go I could barely make out the player character. It might be worth double checking your viewport settings for your web build. The first boss was a lot more time consuming than I expected it to be—I found it really hard to line up my lightning perfectly on the third round and even then I managed to win and die at the same time, unlocking the next round. I think you've got something special here with some more iteration. Thanks for making and sharing it!

How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
You are so unluky that Lightnings will strike you always

I also made a small boss rush type game but I have to echo the first comment, I found it difficult to understand how to deal with the first boss even after reading the instructions and the comments below. I encountered a bug a few times where the boss remains permanently damaged if you have the lightning hit direct from above but below its shadow. Once I understood that the lightning and the owl's shadow had to be overlapped for it to be damaged, I managed to have it hit twice. I do think you aren't afforded enough opportunity to have the lightning and the owl match up. I did enjoy the soundtrack and the visuals, I just think the gameplay needs to be balanced to be more fair in my opinion.
think the music and sound are great, and overall the game is very well made. Well done!
Music and art were nice, and I like the concept of using attacks against you to do damage, fits with the theme well. However I think the downtime between attacks is too long, maybe if you could trigger the strikes yourself? Also, I ran into a bug(?) on the first boss where they dissapeared after the first hit, except for during charging attacks.
I quite enjoyed the game, but I got softlocked on the second boss (insect thingy) when my character got into an invulnerable state that was infinite and the boss pinned me on a wall. After restarting, the first boss would spawn and as soon as he would get off the screen for his sweep attack, he would not come back so I could not proceed further :/ Cool concept and graphics tho !
This really is a game that makes you feel "unlucky", but I can't really fault it for that - it's true to the theme. With your damage being tied to the lightning strikes it's very easy to get bad luck with the opponent not being strikable during that attack cycle (mainly see the owl). And also, with no control over the lightning, it could leave you in a very tricky spot with the incoming enemy attack (see the crocodile/alligator) - I died to that a few times because the lightning came at the same time as I needed to strike.
Can't complain though. I always felt like if I did better at the parts I could control, I had enough health to survive one or two unlucky coincidences.
Very nice tiles, and you're such a little guy! Music and sound doing good work, too. I'm happy I managed to learn the patterns and beat all of the fights. Would love to see a game like this with an expansion on the mechanics/balance tweaks to the lightning timing.
This game is very pretty and sounds very cool.
One small issue I have with it is the lightning, especially on the first boss, is not really happening often enough, so there's a lot of downtime.
Also, is it really a lightning rod if the lightning still hits you, or am I just throwing it wrong?
awesome sound and music! had a lot of fun with the boss fight, great animations on the boss.

That was fun! I like the puzzle-boss gameplay, and the lightning concept is a cool spin on the theme. I enjoyed dashing around getting things bolted from the sky. The monster designs are cute!
I got stuck on the swamp boss for a while — I kept trying to hit the orb using up + left and up + right, but it took me a while to figure out I could only hit the orb by aiming with up only. I died so many times that I eventually stopped dying when hit... somehow.
The music was fun! That said, the sound effects are a little loud compared to the music — the audio regularly peaked above 0.0 db.
All-in-all, good work!
OMG!! You did it!! That’s awesome, the last puzzle was added to explore the concert of the Rod a little bit more.
I appreciate that you k like the design of the bosses, we gave out best there haha
I totally after with you about the Music, I think the balance and the level of “invisible” help for some actions, like hitting the thunderbolt to make it feel less unfair, but those were things that we couldn’t fix and review a time
The Balance and timings ease a challenge to be honest!
thanks for playing again, I will try your game!
We also made a lightning-themed game, so I just had to give this one a try! I really loved the soundtrack and sound effects! I wasn’t able to fight the owl back, but I really enjoyed dashing out of its attack zone and dodging the lightning strikes.
The controls seem responsive and the idea is cool.
I'm not sure if I missed something important, but I didn't have an attack at all on the listed "Attack" button and I didn't ever receive the lightning rod described in the description of the game. It feels like it has some great potential and definitely a good Gameboy feel, but I wasn't able to progress very far without having receiving anything to attack or counter enemies.
