Great art and it's really fun to play. love the bumping mechanic to steal fruits <3
Cute idea for a multiplayer, the art is top notch
I loved this game, it is a great idea for a multiplayer game! It reminds of super smash bros, Great work making this!
Really cool game! The art is so good! the characters are super appealing. Really awesome job on this one!
After reading some of the comments I decided to ask my 5-year-old niece to come play test this with me and we had such a blast! I love how you've made a game that is easily accessible to even very young kids. I'm very wary of a lot of the tablet games that my niece and nephews have on their tablets to the point where I periodically have to uninstall a bunch of them because they just not age appropriate. Your game on the other hand shows that you can have fun and still be wholesome for all members of the family.
Controls felt responsive and well tuned, music track was a banger, sound effects were crunchy and did a great job affirming input decisions. The second stage was particularly fun with the spike ball in the middle and the spring platforms. I absolutely loved this!
P.S. Sweet profile pic from Zombie Ate My Neighbors ;) One of my fave games growing up in the 90s
Nice idea. Nice artwork. Nice music.
I think it looks really good, but I might want to try this particular one again with some other players to get a better idea of it, so I might hold off on rating it for now. Overall I think you did a good job on this submission!
Like others, I played it solo with one had using wasd the other arrow keys. I had a really good time and see a huge amount of potential for things like power ups, different game modes, etc. I love the vibe of this game! The concept of being a fruit brawler is so fun. The win screen is cool! :D Some feedback I have for improvements: 1. I noticed when a player jumps on top of another player, the one of the bottom can't jump (rarely might if you spam the key) or move, they get stuck. The one on top can't jump but they can move off. So basically if you just stand on someone you can stop them moving. 2. I noticed when a player collides with another they start sliding and can't moving during this process. So I tested running two players into each other, and one takes priority and the other can't do anything about it. 3. undecided on best solution for this, but I noticed you can knock a lot of fruit out quickly, which I think might be due to not having invuln frames after getting hits (so the spike ball for example will clean you out of fruit). I think there should be invuln frames/cooldown on getting knocked, but this is a design choice.
Great game though! :)
Thanks very much for taking the time to play and comment on the game and thanks for the kind words! You definitely identified a bug or two that I also encountered during play testing, particularly the one where one player is stuck on top of the other. I would like to fix this one after the voting period is over. The second one is intended but needs some tweaking of the values or a better animation I think. The idea is that when two players collide (above a minimum force), whoever hits with more force will “bounce” the other, stunning them for a short time and making them drop one fruit. However, if a player hits a trap, I intended this to have a big penalty in that it bounces them very strongly and they drop all their fruit at once adding a bit to the chaos and unpredictability that I was aiming for. Thanks again for the feedback, very much appreciated!
I see the intention for the bounce mechanic, to which I would suggest make it really quick travel speed for the bounce and a 1-2s stun at the end or something. ^.^ With the trap if you're to do that I would have the fruit fly out like an explosion or something, right now my experience was all the fruit just dropped below the trap making it really hard to get them again as I'd just keep getting hit again and again, it was... fruitless for me to try get them back ;P
I could see it looking really cool/fun where they get hit by the trap, get bounced and all their stuff goes flying around. Just fruit for thought! ^.^ And you're welcome!
I was weary when i read the comments about not having a friend, but i decided to be my own friend and played as the WASD character and the arrow key character and i had a blast! the music gave great fighting vibes, and i liked fighting for the fruit. maybe there can be some integration where you actually fight each other instead of just touch to release fruit. other than that, i enjoyed the game! good job!
Thanks very much for playing and commenting on the game! I tried to keep the fighting mechanic very simple so that my 3 year old could easily play with his older sister and 2 of their friends. Because of this, the “fighting” ends up just being whoever hits the other harder gets the upper hand. The various values governing this definitely need some tweaking though and I would like to take your suggestion and maybe find a way to make it an “easy to pickup, hard to master” kind of mechanic. Thanks again!
I played with 1 other player and we had fun! Think you designed this game with good energy from the art, music, and competitiveness. I like the overall idea here. Good job getting an interactive environment in too along with the players. I like the win screen you created at the end.
Thanks very much for playing and I am very glad you were able to play with another as intended. Thanks for the kind words!
As this is a local multiplayer game I can't properly give full feedback but I could try to give some pointers. The idea of a pixel art brawler like this is interesting and I liked the style that you went with. For feedback, 1 thing would obviously be to have a single player mode that incorporates some basic AI for movement and fighting.
Looks very cool! Though I was not able to play with friend because I do not have numpad 0 on keyboard!
Aww, that’s unfortunate. With enough time for development, I would like to have players configure their own keyboard mappings. If you play the Windows desktop version and have a gamepad or joystick, that would have worked too. Thanks for playing!
I wasn't able to play as intended because I'm alone but the game was very juicy I felt and it felt cool very cool that you got this done in such a short amount of time.
Cool Game :)
