The game art is great, especially the boss, very cute! The game is quite polished for a 10 day game jam. Love it.
Thanks. Oh man did I ever feel under the gun. So many ideas went to the "to do later" pile. I had a lot of fun and it was nice to see a HUGE difference in my growth between "King's Curse" (also on my itch page form last year's GameDev.TV Game Jam) and this one. It feels like a night and day difference. And the smile on my face when I finished the boss 10 minutes before I submitted and had to go to work, that was worth it all. And then I get the extra enjoyment from how many people found it fun. I know it won't be everyone. But I'm very happy and proud of it.
Good job! Absolutely amazing with the art. I especially liked the character portrait. I think the gameplay could be better with some different variations with enemies. I felt all the slimes were more or less the same just different levels of aggression (and I'm assuming different damage outputs but I don't know for sure). Would be cool to see this turn into something more after the jam!
Oh for sure. The code is very generic and I wanted to have stuff like boars and other creatures. Just no time. I even wanted to have some variation on how the slimes moved. So in the end I opted for either run away (green/blue) or aggressive (red, yellow, purple), since it was just a negative number. There was differences in health, damage, crit chance, crit damage, speed, and drop rate percentages...I think that covered it for the most part.
Hi Brohmyr! More wonderful illustrations <3
I really liked the world that this game sets up and the slimes were cute. I'm a sucker for slimes. Unfortunately, the rest of it didn't quite click for me. The combat was alright, but actually finding the right things to fight took way too long. I nearly quit after wandering for 2-3 minutes without finding anything I needed. And then when I finally found the slimes, they wouldn't drop what I needed. It was just a little slow and tedious and frustrating. The map could easily be 1/4th of this size and you'd be able to still get your point across.
Keep up the good work and keep making games! I look forward to seeing your work :)
I appreciate the feedback and totally understand on the map situation. I actually scaled it down to like 1/6th of what I was originally thinking. Then brought it down to that when it took me about 35 seconds running straight from one end to the other. I'll rethink that one for sure.
I loved it. Lot's of fun. The voice effects are aweome. All round excellent game. I noticed at the Job Board when i completed all objectives, wasnt sure what to do after so i pressed E on board again and everytime i pressed the job widget would flash on then off again. But i realised the Big boss had spawned and I knew what I knew I had some Slime killing to do. :P
Congrats on completing it! Yeah, that job board thing is a bug that I didn't have time to build a safety mechanism around. So when the game event triggered for "all quests complete, spawn Slime Lord" it auto kicked out of the job board. And I had to auto kcik out the job board to spawn the music properly, and it was a lot of stress as I was seeing the game breaking...ahahahha. I'm glad you loved it and had fun!
Hahaha, yeah, I'm just gonna keep quiet until someone finds the bug i"m hiding. hahaha
That's the way to do it ;) I have tons of bugs. Just as Raistael to playt your game and he'll find all of them, and more!...lol.
Job Board bug is fixed. Thanks :D.
The artwork is Great . Every aspect in this game is excellent. You did an excellent job. The sound is likewise fantastic.
Oh thank you! I'm so glad that many people enjoyed it. I had a great group of friends who playtested the crap out of it with awesome feedback.
Fun game. Good animations on all the sprites.
Loved the voice lines and attack sounds.
The boss fight was kind of easy, but still fun to play.
Also, I completely forgot there was a dash key, never used it while playing and only remembered it existed after I beat the game and read some comments lol.
Good job!
I'm SO HAPPY you had fun. My friend did an awesome job on Barbara's lines. I did all the boss sounds. I wanted the boss to be tougher...but I also wanted it to be more open for the general person playing to not be annoyed. When the jam is done, I will probably crank the difficulty up some ;).
sounds is good
Thanks. I spent some time on the free Youtube Audio Library resources to find something that fit well. Lots of surprising cool stuff on there.
This is fun. I like the animations for the slimes. Maybe you could add some knockback to the slimes when the player hits them to improve the feel of the game.
I am soooo happy you find it fun. I love the idea of the knockback. I'll add that on my "to do" list on fixing and if I update the game more.
The slime boss rocks! Love the final submission!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It makes me super happy with all the hard work that he was all the past 2 days.
