Really well done mini-metroidvania! I loved the story and dialogue between characters, had me hooked the whole journey. The combat in general is pretty good, but I think needs some more polishing/fine-tuning. The stutter step backwards that a lot of enemies have, while I understand why you implemented this, ends up being a little more frustrating rather than dynamic. I do really like the dodge roll you implemented though, I would recommend trying to encourage the player to use it more/use it in specific scenarios.
Best game I've played in this jam so far, I love the gameplay and graphics. Music and sound are also nice.
Great art, dynamic camera, story, and music / sound effects. I wanted to use a controller but the A button (xbox controller) does sort of a jump and attack, instead of just a jump. The attack kind of pauses you in the air, keeping you from jumping forward. This could be a problem with my controller only though, not sure. I think making the wolf sprites larger might be a good change, it looks like you're fighting puppies because they are small. It seems like a great start.
That's really cool game with nice story telling process. Love the collision on the very thin round-rectangles, sliding on the edge as well as the visual. A menu to go back or quit system would be nice. I ran into 2 bug. Other than that everything really amazing. One of the bug is camera sudden shift and another is - the spirit ran away out of screen and never came back so stuck in a small place unable to go forward or backward of the screen edge. I have recorded it, let me know if you interested to see it as well as your id. Thank you.
Thanks for checking it out. I really appreciate the feedback. I’m aware of the camera one. Can you send a screenshot of the area where the spirit ran off screen?
ESC on the keyboard or start on a controller will bring up a pause menu with an option to go to main menu. Should have probably mentioned that in game haha.
Thanks so much!
the game dont work for my mac but i rate u by the graphics because looks awasome
Damn that was awesome!! Very well done, particularly the story, difficulty pacing (fun to learn and punish enemy attack patterns) and great music too! Only issue was the enemy ai got stuck sometimes - bats would go left and right super fast whilst moving up/down walls, and wolfs sometimes got stuck in the roof if they did their jump attack too close to them. Also would love to see roll + jump carry more momentum to make movement even more fun. But other than that great job!
Beautiful in every way. The gameplay was polished, engaging, and mostly well-balanced; the atmosphere is exquisitely somber; and the story is surprisingly fleshed out. It almost transcends being a game jam entry, besides the length.
Pretty cool game. Was feature complete and stood by itself well. I liked that the art style was consistent throughout and the story was pretty innovative. Nice job.
This was a very polished game, and I was very lucky to have played it! I loved the story and the combat! The final battle was especially exhilarating.
There were a few things that I noticed:
-The crow spirit will sweep under the player and lift them up dealing constant damage unless the player can manage to get off from on top of them.
-You can jump in mid-air if you fall off the edge of a cliff.
-The final text bubbles in the last scene require the player to use the space bar rather than the left mouse click button, I was pretty stuck at this point I thought the game had crashed.
-There were a few moments where I got stuck in the healing animation indefinitely, I think It may have been caused by a mix of button inputs, but I'm not sure.
That's it! Thank you so much for making this game. I had a lot of fun playing.
very polished with great graphics and sound. i didnt get past the first boss and cant say much about the story since i skiped most of it. there were some annoying things that made me stop playing like how when you enter a new area and the camera pans out there's already an enemy in front of you and you have little time to react, and how difficult it is to tell them apart from the background, sometimes thered be like 2 random spirits that just popped up out of nowhere.
Not the type of game I'd personally play but it's still incredibly polished.
