Notes (optional)
It is playable on the browser, so please don't hesitate to come and play!

* What is it about? Feed and raise the fish, and they drop jewelry. Collect them to get rich, buy more fish, get more rich.
* Wait, is it just Insaniquarium? Yes, it inspired me but to make this game not just a ripoff, I'm adding more stuff to it.
* More ways to have fun: Some fish devour other fish, and some have exotic taste so find out about it. (Hint: their appearence and colour)
* Warning: I unfortunately didn't check the sound to be normalised. And I have my sound settings lower than others. So there is an earrape issue. Be careful to lower your volume before playing it.

Very fun and addictive! Would love something to help collect coins, and some of the red fish wouldn't take any food and die, but still was very fun. Don't know about insaniquarium, but I'll check it out now.

Developer

Thanks for playing. I'll improve the legibility as it is too subtle to know which fish have which appetite.

Great homage to Insaniquarium and evenly addictive. I couldn't figure out a lot of those fishes yet, for example my aquarium was flooded by pills no one wanted to eat and that blue fish didn't want to eat anything yet. I just refreshed the browser window and saw that there are other kinds of fish - are those random? So maybe I got combinations that don't fit well together?

I think the core gameplay loop and mechanics work great. I would've liked it more if the other kind of fishes were gradually introduced, instead of unlocking them all at the start. Maybe that way it would be easier to learn what those fishes like. In my opinion it's great that you don't have something like those pesky aliens attacking now and then like in Insaniquarium, those were really stressful. On the other hand I missed those little helpers you could get after some time, e. g. the snail to collect coins or I think there also was some auto feeding mechanism.

All in all great entry with lots of potential to build upon.

Developer

Thank you for playing and your sincere feedback! The fish combination is the key as you got it. However, this version does not take the combination into account; the appetites and drops are all random. And also, the pill, I forgot to add them into the code, so the fish won't take the pill at all. However, all the issues are handled and the game will be much more playable in the next update tomorrow. Also the unlocking the fish gradually is also added. The next version will much more feel like a game. (And to spoil a little, there are some fish who can collect the coins for you right now.) Last of all, thanks for playing and the compliment and the feedback. This means a lot to me!

REAAALLY ADICTIVE, I almost spent hours on it. Really good music, art work and mechanics. Overall loved it.

This means a lot. As soon as the rating's over, I'll upload the newest version. You'll definitely love it. Thanks you for playing!

You almost trashed my ears by blowing this REALLY loud music in my ears, but other than that it looks and feels quite nice to play the game. You can't really do a whole lot, so it's kind of a bit boring. But a nice little idle game overall.

Developer

I'll normalise the volume. Sorry for your ears. Anyways, thanks for playing!

I had never played an aquarium simulator before.

the music is nostalgic and the assets and water feel so well worked on, I could left this running while I watch a slow movie or even have this as those idle games that sit in a part of your desktop.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

This is so nostalgic to me, i used to play Insaniquarium back in my childhood. The art is nice. the water physics looks very cool, but the music is a little too loud I think. Great game overall!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing. I think I have my sound settings a bit lower than others. I will normalise the volumes and also add volume settings later. Thanks for noticing the water physics also. Insaniquarium is my nostalgia too. I promise to finish this game some day.

looking forward to it!

I wish the game started up a bit faster but other then that had alota fun! Spent about 55 minutes playing this.

Developer

Thanks for playing my game! I'll definitely put your feedback on the roadmap. At the start of the stage there will be deck building phase which the player can choose the starting fish based on the game progression. The game is so addictive that I also spent a lot of time playing it while developing it. 😂

this is a full fledged game. congrats on making such a game in a short amount of time. Reminds me of feeding frenzy.

Developer (1 edit)

Nah, I was hoping to make more but unfortunately bumped into Gamemaker's technical issues I didn't even know existed. Thanks for the compliment by the way. Feeding frenzy is also the one inspired me, haha.
edit: the issue turned out to be my mistake :(

How did you do the shadows? That was a nice touch! At first I thought some fish weren't working, then realized certain fish eat certain things which was a lot of fun to figure out, the only feedback I have is maybe make it a little more clear that not all the fish eat the same food in the game. Great game overall!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping the colours to be hint but it was too subtle I guess. I'll figure out some other ways to make them clear. The shadows are drawn on the shadows surface with corresponding shadow sprites given to the fish. Then the surface gets drawn before drawing all the fish and drops with alpha value of 0.5. Thanks again!
