  • Weird controls tbh. Having j/k that are physically left and right to each other to move a pad vertically is a bit weird, I would often fail because I would go the wrong way pressing left to go up doesnt make much sense (or to go down ? I already forgot). I also didnt understand what was the point of the expanding zone. Was it like a score or something. It would reset sometimes. Did it mean I lost/won ?

Interesting idea. Taking territory when hitting the ball is interesting, but I think it needs more work. I don't know why you used J/K for controls instead of W/S, but it doesn't really work for me. The game feels like it's to easy and just time consuming. Maybe if the ball went faster as time went by or changed trajectory more when hit.

Cool

Super neat idea! I decided to just play as player two with player 1 as AI cause that JK scheme wasn't gonna work for me XD I didn't think Pong could be improved but you're certainly taking a good stab at it!

Very unique idea. The game feels good to play

Wowwww. Really creative take on the theme. art is simple yet works, and the sound also feels fitting. but the controls could be better. it was hard to adapt to it at first

Interesting take on pong to fully expand the area.

j/k for controls was difficult to adapt but eventually did.
Could be interesting to allow for input bindings for this later on if you decide to work on the project after.

Cool idea and I would be curious to see  where it would go if you take it further.

nice work!

First off, I think J and K were not the right call for the player 1 keyboard mappings. The idea of Pong is moving the paddle up and down, so the keys should be one on top of the other rather than side to side. Something like U/J or I/K, or better yet W/S, would have worked a lot better. The paddle controls also felt a little slippery and imprecise.

Once I got used to that, though, I did have some fun with it and I'd say this is sort of a neat twist on Pong, though there's maybe more you could have done with it. Maybe make it so you expand in different areas depending on where your paddle is when you hit the ball or something. I also think it's cool how you get different colors each time you play.

You make a good point for the controls, I actually don't remember why I kept J/K instead of W/S... which I was actually using previously. It would have still worked with two players on the same keyboard 🤦‍♂️
Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Does not really work. The green area expands regardless of which player is scoring.

EDIT: My apologies. This is a bug that only happens when playing on Firefox it seems.

I guess it lacks clarity, but your area expands with each of your actions, whether you scored or you just managed to throw the ball back to your opponent. Depending on what you did, some modifiers are applied to the number of cells attributed.

And a round is won by taking over the whole board with your color.

But thanks for playing! 🙏

No, I mean, My area expands when my bar hits the ball, but no matter who gets a “goal”, the green area expands.

Edit: I just tested again and the right side’s area expands every time a point is scored.

Though I can't rule out a potential bug, I've tested the game on my end and the area expansion seems to be working as intended (or as much as it should) -with a bonus expansion for the player in the attacking position (starting with the ball).
I appreciated the feedback, sorry for the inconvenience.

I tested it on a different browser. It seems this bug only happens when playing on Firefox. I guess that’s not really fair to judge you for that as I have also noticed unintended behavior when playing my Godot games on Firefox. I will edit my initial message to reflect that. Sorry for the confusion.
