Solid enough platformer. The only issue was the struggle of hitting buttons with the orb, since it sometimes did not react when hit.
I had fun playing! It's a tricky platformer and a little tough to control where youre throwing it but quick on the replay and once I got a hang of how to throw the orb it was fun to throw and catch. Nice job!
Really loved this game.
Really loved this game. Fast pace and I learned very quickly that red buttons don't stop the fire walls forever! Loved the idea of juggling yourself and the ball, however it could be a bit better if you could sort of see the trajectory of the ball? I know it's a bit much for a game jam project, but just a thought?
Thanks glad you enjoyed 😁 and yes that was thought of but of course it's a time issue, definitely would help make it more intuitive.
You did a great job with the fire animations, and the movement felt good. As Axel mentioned, Z key wasn't intuitive for WASD, maybe also giving E the same functionality would be a solution. It's also a hard game to figure out how to play, so some hints or instructions at the start would be a good addition.
Good idea for a platformer! Very fast pace that requires some getting used to with the fire quickly approaching. I thought the red button was just a shut off version of one of the fire pillars at first to the first level took me a few tries haha. Good job!
The music is very nice and I like the concept behind the fire rising up! However, I wasn't able to get past the first level because I have no idea how to push the button and attempts without pressing it led to my demise. At first I thought I was supposed to throw the ice to the fire to clear the passageway, but that only led to my game over.
Hello, yes unfortunately I didn't have the time to implement a tutorial or anything, I apologize, I'm sorry the game was a bit too hard to understand. To turn off the fire for a limited time you can press the buttons by throwing the Ice Orb at the buttons.
The music had me so tense! The game has too fast of a pace to learn how to throw the ball though
interesting game. I would like to try it again.
I have to ask, how do you push the button on the first level
I only manage to do it twice, but both times were after I accidently threw the ball into the fire.
Hi, thank you for playing, that first throw is meant to try and teach you the arch of the throw, if you stand on the lowest part of the floor and space yourself correctly it will be thrown to the top floor and slide into the button, alternatively, you can also stand on the edge of the top floor parallel with the button and throw and the orb should bounce off the platform above you and into the button. There are also some wonky ways in which your players movement can change the arch and speed of the orb and it can sometimes result in a throw at the ground and a slide with no air time. Hope this helps!
Great game! Really fun concept, liked the last room where you have to seperate from the ball for a while. Pressing Z to throw / catch didn't feel super intuitive to me, but besides that, really enjoyed it! Great job!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it! Can you tell me more about how you felt the z key was unintuitive? I'd like to get some more insight 🙏
I just checked and realized you also have arrow keys working, but by default I was using WASD so having to also hold Z while potentially holding A was a bit hard to do, but it's fine for the arrow key controls.
Ah I see, yes in the description on the Itch page for the game the controls are listed. Glad it wasn't a larger issue 😅
