How does your game use the theme "cultivation"?
Horticultist is a silly little game about cultivating relationships with your cultimates which culminates in your cultifate in the hands of a cosmic mate.
You get to discipline your cultists and sow habits that are pleasing to Tomathothep, while pruning yourself to be a blossoming leader...or not.

or in other words,
You cultivate a cult, your cult cultivates a tree, Tomathotep (the god) cultivates the player to be a cult leader.

Absolutely love this little game! Love that it's got multiple endings and randomization for the residents. Some of the names are cute too

I like that residents have randomization and the game has different ending. Maybe it would be cool if Tomathotep noticed that the mission he wants to give has already been accomplished.

This is incredible, that you made it all in scratch!

Developer

Thank you! It's all thanks to my awesome team! I agree the mission doesn't tell your progression much and can be confusing sometimes, unfortunately, the code is too spaghetti to implement this properly without breaking other parts lol :')

Love Tomatothep and the idea.

Gameplay to me didnt seem that compelling, but I might have just misunderstood it. It wasn't immediatly obvious how the game works, namely why would you use the prayer vs the tomato on which objects etc. Seemed like it was just trial and error: quick tap to see if either of the two are desirable is how I ended up playing.

Thank you for trying the game, glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, I do feel like the cleaning part was not so polished, I wanted it to be investigation/interaction kinda gameplay like in Papers Please, but due to time constraints I couldn't think of a fitting game mechanic. Thanks for the feedback!

Great game! My first thought for the jam was something a bit like this (putting the 'cult' into 'cultivation'!), but I thought I couldn't pull it off. It certainly wouldn't have looked as nice as this does!

Developer

Aww thank you! I'm glad we could pull it off and glad you enjoyed it!

This was fun! Weird and dark, so that's neat. I enjoyed the vibe

Developer

Thank you! Yeah we wanted the game to look deceivingly cute at the start when it's actually dark, glad you enjoyed the vibe :)

The art and the voices are sick and the gameplay is really good! The UI is kinda bugged though. But such a solid entry. Good Job!

Developer

Thank you!

Nice concept and fun gameplay. Sadly from my side, there were few misaligned UI

Developer

Thanks for trying it out! Yeah some people reported that but I can't reproduce the issue D:
