Super scary monster, and the glass was really cool. I liked how I could only carry one gem at a time, made me plan my route. My favorite part was how the character would run faster when the monster was around, real "wow" moment.

solid game, the lighting system was neat
if there's one thing i could suggest, a sound effect for when you get hurt?

Developer

Yeah, we were a bit short on time so we didn't get all the effects we wanted. But we'll keep that in mind for the future. Thanks for the comment!

The monster is really scary. Love how the light works. Great job.

Wow that thing is scary. I think it would be nice if there was no real sound until you were close to it, but overall I think it did it's job and was spooky. Nice job on the doors!

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, we ended up a bit strapped on time with the audio but I'm glad you liked the game!

the lighting and aesthetic are pretty nicely nailed down in this one i think

when the horror popped up and bolted for me, i did actually get a little jump scare, well done

Interesting concept. There's always a bit of dread when there's darkness all around you. Then you heart starts beating a bit faster when that beating/clicking picks up pace because you know "something" is getting closer.  I also thought it was a nice touch that I didn't seem to be able to run while holding a gem. It made for an interesting mechanic of dropping what you need to get away knowing that you'd eventually have to loop back later to pick up what you dropped.

Nice work

Really cool game! The darkness and unsettling sounds (which were, as mentioned, maybe a bit too loud and sharp ;)) did really help set the scene. The horror-like atmosphere was really well conveyed!

The art looks very good, especially the monster sprite, but even the grey walls helped tie the whole enviroment/atmosphere together.

Overall nice job!

I loved the atmosphere and the crazy abomination pixel art. It's the perfect blend of recognizable shapes and unsettling arrangements. Cool premise, too.

I found the gameplay to be a bit frustrating. I eventually figured out you can "hide" in the rooms, but the abomination never seemed to go away. I'm not sure how I could ever beat this unless I just get lucky. Once it finds you, it seems like a loss is inevitable as there's no apparent way to shake it. I think rooms with two exits into opposite halls would help with this a lot.

Also, I'm unsure what was happening with the audio. There was a loud clicking (the abomination?) that sped up as it got closer. It was a good idea to have an audio queue hint at how close it is, but it felt a bit too loud and sharp. Volume controls are pretty easy to implement once you've done it once and make a huge impact on the polish of a jam game. Try it out next time :)

Overall, super cool experience, even if I couldn't find more than one gem. Keep up the good work and congrats on making this in just a few short days!

Thanks! 😄We were a bit rushed with audio design so we'll keep that in mind for the future! Appreciate the comment!

Actually quite enjoyed this. Great atmosphere and love how the music gets faster when being chased by the monster. Had to rearrange all the gems at the end as I blocked the doorway to escape. The lighting effects were also brilliant and is really well made to say it was done in a few days.

A few additional ideas from me would be that it might be worth mentioning how many gems are left to find. Though that is just an opinion for a personal preference as towards the end I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong.

Also, after completing the game it seemed that the options "escape for Real" and "retry" didnt work. Again, I could have been doing something wrong so maybe it is actually fine.

Ah also, love the monster design :).

Well done.
