Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • I enjoyed the gameplay and puzzles were great. The battery felt pretty punishing, especially because it was difficult to move precisely. But overall a pretty solid game.
  • Nice concept! The recoil on the robot and box could feel more satisfying. Great job with the pacing and progression of levels; instant feedback is huge in these kinds of games, so the respawn speed was great.
  • The controls of the robot felt really confusing, and i think the art was off so that it made it harder to gauge when to turn the robot. Solid idea, I just wish there were better controls for the robot.

How does the game fit into the theme?
Because the theme was "Keep Moving Forward", I made the playable character of my game a wind-up robot that automatically moves forward until it runs out of battery.

What premade assets did you use if any?
I have reused a few custom fonts from a separate game project.

Cool idea! And it's nice to see another beepbox user in the wild :)

I found it original and fun! The element of the boxes to deliver makes it replayable. Maybe it lacked a bit of polish in the robot's movement since I felt it was a bit rough, but it still works very well.

Also the art work and music also fit very well with the style.

Good job! :D

Really cool game, although maybe robot movement could be tweaked a bit.

Art style is cool, over all a job well done

this is such an excellent game in so many ways. clean and cohesive game design! you executed this idea so well.

Really solid game in the Sokoban vein! I love the art style, it’s just like the higher tier of Sega Genesis games back in the day.

I had some difficulty sometimes making the robot turn at the right place. Wondering, is there ever a case when you’d want to turn at a half-tile line? I kept wishing turns would quantize against the larger tiles (the robot’s own size).

Thank you!

The half-tile turning was a byproduct of the initial experimentation phase where I was worried the full-tile movement would feel too delayed from the player's input. It got left in as an afterthought once I moved onto designing the levels. It doesn't have any actual use other than for some potential speedrunning tricks like pushing two boxes at once or skirting between two launchpads.

If I ever decide to expand the game once the voting is over, I could make the half-turns toggleable. Or maybe replace it with some kind of UI element that could display the direction change before it happens.

I love the game, the puzzles are a good difficulty and had me scratching my head.

Overall a fun game. Difficulty was good imo and I liked that you changed the song midway through. The only gripe is that I was slightly confused why you couldn't turn when surrounded by 2 boxes but I figured it out pretty quickly.
