i don’t usually play only-downloadable games in jams, but i did an exception for this one just because the banner art was so good. the concept is very original and i like it a ton, but in the practice it’s a bit messy.. i don’t know if GameMaker has a built-in physics system and that was the problem, but the main mechanics of moving yourself with the rockets didn’t feel good as the direction you got shot was quite unpredictable.
Running thoughts:
Overall, pretty neat idea. With some playtesting and cleaning up of the mechanics, I could see it as a full game. I got to the level with three employees and two crates, that where I gave up, as I don't understand well enough the angle of the explosion. You might want to telegraph that to the player with an arrow on which direction you would go if you were to launch an explosion at that point.
Nice graphics and decent sound design. Great to see the classic rocket jump is alive and well somewhere in the universe! The controls could be slightly more forgiving, there were times when i pointed the bazooka straight down, but got launched off at a 30-45 degree angle, which made it quite tough. But cool idea for sure!
justice for jeff!
Very hard.
