Good work, this game feels really nice. The upgrades are a really nice touch, I could see myself getting stronger and stronger up until the boss, player empowerment is splendid. I'd just hoped there was more feedback on enemies being hit or dead, they just disappear for now. A little bit more contrast between the ship and the background would also be welcomed.
Yeah man, the sound effects mixing was a problem. Sorry for that!
Very cool way to combining player upgrades with a rank system. The overall aesthetic is also colorful and easy on the eyes.
Thanks man!
Thank you for the compliment!
So i had a little trouble getting this running but it turns it was on my computers end. Someone on your team helped me out! :) I loved the upgrading system. It was really fun to slowly build up my power! The art was really great to! The smaller bullets where a bit too small. But the final boss fight made up for that. It. Was. Intense. And I died haha :D Really nice job to all involved!
Thanks for your kind words!
The upgrading mechanic is really, really cool. I like that you put the upgrade list on the left so it's easy to tell what each upgrade does and how many you or the enemy have. The game itself is really fun, especially once you start getting lots of upgrades. Maxing out spread in particular is super satisfying.
I would make the tiny enemies bigger and make the background color darker, because it's really hard to see them. You should also add in a sound and visual effect for when you get hit. Since the screen is usually filled with bullets, it's very difficult to glance at your health bar to check how many you have.
Overall, fun game and a pretty creative mechanic. I managed to beat the boss too.
Thanks for your critic sir. Actually, there is a "getting hit" sound effect. The problem was the overall mixing. Sorry for that!
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I'll give the darker backgrounds a go to see if the contrasts would work better.
I like the idea of how dynamic difficulty works in this game: instead of hidden metrics, you give players the agency to make conscious choices! There is, however, a problem with the presentation: the background is too bright and saturated, making it hard to tell enemies and bullets apart from the environment. Even so, the idea itself is very creative. Good work!
Thanks! You're right, the background is too melted with the ships and bullets. We're going to work on that later!
I'm really diggin the artstyle... the file size of the game is surprisingly big, but definitely worth the download. Pretty fun game would give it 8 capybarans out of a million <3
The large file size might be since we made the game in UE4 (don't ask why lol), but I should definitely see if there's a way to cut it down. Thanks for trying it out despite that!
The upgrade/upgrading enemies thing is pretty interesting! I really like the music too! You guys did a great job on this! :D
Thanks man!
