I made the basic movement and shooting before the jam. Music is by @alumomusic

RESULTS ARE OUT!
Aw man, guess I'm not getting those 25$. They would have been life-changing. My life is shattered.
Game was really laggy for me. A downloadable version would be nice.
We're sorry you had issues with lag, we'll work on making a download version or reducing lag if we ever make a post-jam patch. However, we spent most of our time getting the pixel-perfect to work in web version so sadly had no time to see if a windows or mac version would work.
Awesome !
This was really fun to play, i like the upgrade variety on offer and it’s quite addicting trying to survive up untill the later levels, I also like the minimalist sprites and color scheme, and the music is really cool as well.
The only issue i had was that the game starts to drop frames when there starts to get a lot of enemies on screen and a lot of “xp pellets” left inside the crowd.
But really solid entry ! Well done :)
Thanks for playing! Yeah we had issues with lag as we didn’t cap the maximum amount of enemies, so it tends to lag later in the game.
Haha yeah this could be a problem with how many can spawn, but like i said it doesn’t detract from the quality gameplay ^^
Oh wow! I genuinely started playing this ~25 mins ago and didn't even realize how much time had passed until I got a notification on my phone and saw the time! This game is a lot of fun!
thanks! happy to hear that you enjoyed it!
Seems like it’s working for others but honestly couldn’t figure out how to get this to work. The colors were super saturated and I couldn’t see anything.
Oh, woah, that is REALLY weird. Were you using any browser filters or the like?
Nope, just regular boring chrome. All the other games I’ve played worked fine too, so not sure what’s up.
One thought is I have a 144hz monitor so maybe that’s causing it?
Was able to play it on my laptop. Feels really great to play, nice visual and audio cues, good feedback to hits. Great job!
hey, good to know you got it working!
Lots of fun! I wish I could go further, but around Level 20 the game starts to lag until it's unplayable
Wizard is the best while Archer is the weakest in my opinion.
I also had the game crash when I died once.
I think once all the bugs are fixed, this will be a solid game.
Really? for me, Archer is the strongest. You can get 100% pierce chance easily, and then after that, getting extra arrows and extra damage lets you get a 5-shot that kills anything that isn't one of the really big enemies. Thank you for playing the game, and for the feedback!
I think Archer is the weakest because that. Its main buff is extra pierce, but that is already something all of the other classes can already get.
With Wizard, you can stack 4 25% HP reductions allowing the spread attack with max pierce or laser to kill waves of enemies, regardless of their health.
Fantastic game! Simple, yet effective artstyle, deep mechanics with plenty of variety, and a progression system that encourages replay. There are elements that remind of Vampire Survivors in a great way!
I did have a bit of feedback though. First of all, I needed to change my page zoom to 150% before I was able to fully see the UX. Secondly, I had a lot of issues controlling the character with the recoil, especially with the fighter, as the slow movement was impossible to course correct from the recoil, so I ended up just drifting in the direction opposite of where I shot, making it difficult to grab experience. And while the characters are really unique and add a ton of variety, I think they need to be balanced a little better. I couldn't get very far at all with the Wizard, but had a great time with the Artificer (especially as it did not have the recoil issues).
But overall, this is a fantastic game that I would love to play more of. Great work!
Excellent game
I like these meaty shooters, fun and addictive, this is what game jams is about.
I don't know if it's a me problem but the game wasn't at the right resolution, I don't think I was able to see the whole game space because whenever I got the upgrade screen the right and left upgrade panels were cut off.
Once the enemies really started coming the game hit a big slowdown and my computer couldnt handle anymore, too bad was really enjoying it and look forward to more!
Thanks for playing the game! We had problems with building the game at the right resolution, so you have to set the game page size to 100%. Hope that helps!
I love the visuals! Some of the best I’ve seen in the jam so far. Music was also really good.
Gameplay loop was satisfying, although I was so slow to level up, I feel as if I was doing something wrong. Collecting souls gives XP right? If so, there needs to be a UI component or some visual indicator of your progress to the next level. If that’s what the white edges of the screen were about (although I think they had something to do with the damage I was taking instead?), they need to be clearer what they were for. I think if that’s how you level up, it should take way fewer souls, and enemies need to spawn less often. It’s not satisfying shooting a giant horde one enemy at a time at level 1. I think crowds that size need to be worked up to when you have the upgrades to clear them. There also should be a boundary limit otherwise there’s always going to be enough room to escape and the player will never have to make a hard choice when survival is on the line; there will always just be more room to run.
Sound design was the roughest part. I really appreciate the main volume setting because every sound effect that wasn’t a gunshot or the bgm was way too loud and high pitched. I don’t think the volume slider works on the level up sound because it legit jumpscared me when I hit level 2. There also was a lack of audio clarity, and I often didn’t know why certain chimes were going off (was I getting closer to leveling up? did I get a kill milestone or something:). Biggest room for improvement, but altogether not hard changes to make. Low frequency (bass-y) sounds are more favorable in modern games than chirpy high pitch ones, plus they match your visuals better imo.
I know that was a lot of critique, but that’s only because this is the best gamem I’ve played in the jam so far. You’ve done a fantastic job with visuals, music, and vfx, and the gameplay loop has a lot of promise. I wish I was able to unlock the other classes because I’m missing something and I have the desire to see what else you have in store. Kudos on the good game :)
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback and for commenting on this game. Next time, we'll try to add clearer indicators on UI(the bar on the edges was xp, but I can see how that could be unclear). Good luck on the jam!
Reminded me a lot of vampire survivors, very fun! Didn't get a chance to try all the classes, but the first two felt unique from each other
Hehehe if I remember correctly then when I gave @thcheetah777 my concept for this game it was "what if we made vampire survivors"
