How does your game fit the theme?
Every time the player dies, they spawn with a new set of base stats. This gives the game some replayability and is meant to represent a new character each time.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
No, most of the assets come from free asset packs. Some of the assets are edited versions from these packs to fit into our game better. The code is mostly written by us with the except of maybe 1 or 2 things.
Fun little bullet hell waves something! The lights worked well to set a mood, sound would've been awesome also, but I can understand the time crunch.
Nice first jam game, great work!!
A fun randomized wave-based endless bullet hell game
Pros: cute aesthetic, nice lighting, solid concept, great use of the theme
Cons: lack of audio REALLY took away from the experience, it's a shame you didn't have time. I appreciate the effort of modifying some of the assets but none of them being fully custom gives the game far less character, it's possible to randomize a super small super fast character which makes the game a bit trivial (not a huge deal since you could always just restart and randomize a new one)
Overall it's a fun well polished game and it has a great use of the theme. It really feels unfinished and I think you would have benefited from a smaller scope but a more complete game. Better in a jam to have 100% of a mediocre game than 50% of a great game imho. For your first jam, it's definitely well made though and I hope to see you around in future game jams!
really nice game. i like the visuals and how the enemies and their bullets are easy to see. i would have liked more in terms of gameplay and sounds/music but really good job for your first game jam.
What to add:
1) audio
2) depends on the game style but shooting
3) depends on the game style but levels
Overall it's an okay game. Maybe could have done better work with the theme, audio, and main menu. From the menu side:
1) something that indicated if you are floating over a button with your mouse.
2) way to see the controls when you die. Maybe a way to go to the main menu?
We wanted to add audio, but we ran short on time sadly. In terms of shooting and levels, it wasn't really a part of our vision for the game as it is really meant to be endless, and the whole idea is that the player is just dodging and surviving instead of eliminating.
I appreciate the feedback for the controls, though it was a very low priority for us as we display the controls right from the start and they are fairly simple (movement controls are standard and we only use one other button). We really just wanted to get the game to a playable and enjoyable state before we worked on the finer details, and unfortunately we just ran out of time for a lot of it.
Basically a vampyre-like where you don't shoot.
Really liked visuals and gameplay. At first, when I figured out you can't attack enemies I thought it's going to be boring, but the game quickly became very intense and fun.
Only problem is that you can wait for 1/3 of the wave and then start running circles around enemies until they end up in the same spot. After that, game becomes very easy since you don't need to think where and how to run, use dash or not, you just do some circles.
Also some music would be nice
I like the idea, wish there was music/sound effects though! I was confused at first how to attack the enemies but figured out after my second life that it's just dodging, which was a nice change of pace. Nicely done!
cool game i just feel like it needed more but you only had a week.
Nice and simple game, I thought it was enjoyable. I like the take of just pure survival rather than having to kill all the enemies in a wave like is traditional. I also really liked the aesthetics, something about how colorful the room got was very appealing to me. The only thing I encountered was that enemies have aggro range, so in the early stages you can run into a far corner and the enemies all ignore you, but that stopped being abusable around stage 3 or 4.
It's a pretty fun one-time-play game. I guess it gets repetitive. Art style is really nice, wish there was sound though its understandable because of the time limit.
Aye we used part of the same asset pack for the game xD
Good job on your first game jam.
The game looks good, but got stale quickly due to how long each round is, and how simplistic the gameplay is. But other than that, solid game.
There is a bug where I encountered an enemy that spawned outside of the map. The guy shot through the wall and almost caught me lol
