How does your game fit the theme?
The game is about a phoenix, the creature of resurection. The phoenix resurrects at the start of the dungeon each time, starting a little stronger, BUT from the very beginning!

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes!

Wow thats realy nice. i did not understand the dash for a while but rest of game is very nice. i like the sounddesign the most!

Really great game, art is amazing, sound design too. I just think the water oneshotting the character is a little bit too difficult.

Overall, great game.

Excellent style and art direction, and the music was great too. Fantastic entry. I'll probably come back and beat this one.

Visually stunning.  Loved the music and implementation of the theme.  May have just been me, but the controls seemed a touch unresponsive at times and I found myself jumping into pits of juicy liquid fire a little too often or just missing hitting a bullet back at an enemy.  Overall great job!

Hi, first of all thanks for playing! I have few questions for you: did you play it in webgl or downloaded version and did you use controller or keyboard? It feels like the unresponsiveness is due to webgl :/

Submitted

WeGL version with the keyboard.  I tend to not download games as I am trying to play as many as possible.   Maybe I can circle back and try it with a controller, I always appreciate controller support as that always seems to be what dooms my games is I test and make with using a controller and everyone plays with kb/m which decreases the playability.. lol

Developer

Yeah, I understand that, please try downloadable version later then, it runs much better and its important for platformer controls! <3

I did go back through and play it with a controller.  Def more responsive.  Could also be a bit of me as when you release the button the character immediately stop accelerating up and falls.  Probably the design choice, but that could have been what was causing my unresponsive feelings.   I don't put too much stock into controls for WebGl games during game jams because I know from experience that at least 60-70% of the problem is WebGL and not the game....still a great job!

This is Amazing! i just think a variable jump would make evading attacks feel better.

Awesome Game! :D

Game looks beautiful, I love the lighting and the glow is so pretty. Sounds good too!

Is the pile of phoenixes right near the start a Dead Cells reference because it certainly reminded me of the start of that game?

I played a few runs at it, I found the mouse and keyboard controls too clunky sadly, I never really like using keys on the mid-right side of the keyboard for actions.

I feel like I could combat quite well but I would be dashing or failing to dash at the wrong time and the death water was what made me give up in the end (making mistakes with the dash made me collide with it too often). Would prefer if it was more like Ori and the like that it should respawn you at the start of the current room with some slight health damage, not restart your run, because that single mechanic made the game not fun for me, otherwise everything else felt great.

I really enjoyed the game, particularly the rogue-like style. The music and artistic dying animation were also very impressive. Although it was challenging to beat the boss, I still had a great time playing - it gave me the same satisfying feeling as playing Dark Souls. Thanks for creating such an engaging experience!

Stunning art, and intense gameplay. Are there any Iframes after you get hit? it felt like i lost health extremely quickly.

Ok, so if you made this into a full game, I would buy this. Seriously, this was so good, when I beat it I literally went back in to see if there was more. The graphics are great, the audio is great, I like that you have to trade max health for upgrades as a sort of give-and-take style of powering up, high risk high reward. The only things that I would say that aren't glowing praise is that it was a little dark, I know its supposed to be but I found myself straining a bit too much to see where  some of the ground was, and idk if you can only do it if you invest solely into one skill like, but it didn't let me invest in tier 3 attack speed. Not sure if a bug or a feature. (This game gave me Haiku, the Robot vibes, which I dig)

Developer

Thank you for the kind words ^^ Sorry that it was too dark at some places, we will need to balance it out, even color wise.

The attack speed is a bug, you actually can upgrade it, but the clickable area is somehow a bit lower than the sprite for the button. Only discovered this after submission unfortunately

Absolute gem! I love the character art. It's so satisfying to attack and dash. The various enemies were also a neat addition. Upgrading your "stats" was actually cool thing to do. One thing you could have done is make the loss of health more apparent. The icon only darkens by a bit so I couldn't tell at first. Overall really polished. I loved it!

Thanks for the feedback!

Nice game! I really enjoyed it, but it felt so slow and I couldn’t get far enough to finally upgrade my movement speed. The parry mechanics really catched my eyes, it felt really satisfying! Good job on making that! The sounds were on point and it really gave the game it’s vibe! I would love to see more updates on this game! Good job!

Developer(+1)

"Yeah, we toned down the movement speed so that the upgrades can feel more satisfying. We're sorry to hear that it was too slow in the beginning, but we will surely fix it in a later update!"

Really well made game!
