Loved the art! Very well-designed and the story had me wanting more. Here's a link to my playthrough... https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1757910158?t=00h09m57s

Really cool. We were super happy that you played our game. It's also really interesting to see someone else play the game, because you can see more clearly where we can still improve things.

We totally understand, that's why we love to do it! Looking forward to playing your next game!

Great layered art style. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the control scheme but it was surprisingly intuitive and arcade-y! I like it! I agree that I didn't seem to need the dash mechanic to beat the game, but I didn't even notice it until I read the previous comment. I enjoyed the extra flair in character animation and hit animations. Very cool.

Wow! This game really has outstanding graphics. I love it.

PS The dash didn't seem to be really usefull. Player could just stand on the center and attack whatever is close. It would be great if we make player move around. You  could use two spots to defend or collectibles

The game is beautiful and the music is on point. Being able to jump on the environnement is actually a great addition, it could have been made more clear that we can do it. I discovered it by accident on my last night. Excellent game still ! :)

Absolutely gorgeuos and the music is great. The gameplay is really fun, but a little samey.

Very good game, the art style is amazing, and the gameplay is very good, I had some difficult trying to jump instead of sliding when moving, probably assign the slide to another button, the concept is interesting, I would like to see it expanded, very good job!

Outstanding game in my opinion :) The theme is in the gameplay sure (one wave ends, another starts) but it's mainly in the story, and we can feel the effort to make it transparent. Efforts on the narrative and the illustration to make it not a simple text, but to make it enjoyable to read and invest us in the story. Love it!

Your art is outstanding! I like the movement, the different platforms you can stand on. Music was very fitting too. If you would like to make the game even better I suggest maybe adding a freeze effect so you don't fall down after hitting an enemy, but you can unleash a combo in the air or maybe a boss at the end. Nice job :)

Awesome game with great art!

Nice game, very beautiful to look at! I was going to say that speed of black souls needs to be increased a bit as the game is too easy, but I just died in night 5, so what do I know!! Great job overall!

First of all, wow, someone is a fantastic artist! The art was stunning and absolutely beautiful really can't fault that. It was short but sweet - perfect for a game jam game and it just felt really polished.

I do feel like there were some missing sound effects that could be added since they were noticeably repetitive. But that is a teeny tiny speck of feedback on a really great submission.

Final thought, and this might just be me, but I felt like it was missing a sort of "bounce" upward each time you hit an enemy - almost smash bros style. I feel like bouncing between enemies hitting them in mid air was where the gameplay really flourished and so if you could sort of keep up air time I think it would feel super satisfying for an otherwise quite simple combat mechanic.

Really fantastic entry though. Absolutely incredible job.

Thank you for the feedback! These are great suggestions for improvement. I am really happy about your compliments! :D

This was such a good game, really! Loved the art, the fighting was simple to execute and to understand. The music never got old and really fitted the game as well. I'm just sad there wasn't another level haha really enjoyed it. Good job!

Developer

thank you so much!!! :D

The art, the sound and the overall feeling is amazing. The gameplay is fun. I found it a little too easy, I would prefer a little more challenge, but I guess it wasmade this way because it's a jam game. I would also like if the theme is more implemented into the actual gameplay rather than in the lore only. Definitely one of the best if not hte best good looking games in this event! Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much!!! I see it the same way you do with the theme. We will try to improve!
Thanks for your feedback!

The art, music and sounds for this game were gorgeous!

The actual gameplay was super fun too!

The only thing I can really comment on is that the dash felt a bit weird to use, since I would be running with A and D and I'd want to dash up, but I'd go sliding off the screen. Maybe that's a me thing, maybe that's an actual control issue, who knows?

What I can say is that this game is super awesome! Probably one of my faves of the jam. Bravo! 🧡

thank you very much! we will take your feedback in mind when we upload an update!

You got an excellent art and controls (even if i'm not used to jump with J)
Everything about this game is good, it's a great work, but to me it was too easy, maybe balancing the difficulty would make it even better!

Developer

We wanted everyone to reach the end XD but in the update we make it a little harder!
Thanks for the great feedback!

Insane art ! Great attention to details and a ton of polish.

The programming part is not left aside either, you've got a nice platformer controller that's really precise and easy on the player.

The only thing is taht the game may be a bit to easy ! I never felt in danger as a player, so to me there's definitely an improvement to make on the game design aspect.

However with these foundations, I believe that a smart move would be to expand into a bigger project, maybe go for a Metroidvania game. I think you definitely have a fitting art, combat and controller, and you'll be able to fully express a story, like you did there with the cutscenes !

Developer

Many thanks! We remember your feedback definitely for the update!

Fantastic art!  Your use of hit stop when enemies died was spot on - felt satisfying but wasn't bogging the game down.  The control scheme was a bit weird - but honestly I got used to it pretty fast.  I barely used the dash mechanic since the stage is quite small and basic movement was good - but I could see it being useful if the game was larger / had more going on.

Excellent submission to the jam! :D
