It took me a while to get the hang of the mechanics. Overall, I think it’s a good game. Congratz on solo developing the game!

In what way does your game fit the theme?
It fits the theme through level design. Player health and abilities are inconsistent and enemy movement is unpredictable, but the last level... well that's absolute chaos :)
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, everything was made from scratch within the time frame

Hey congrats on submitting to your first game jam! It's always a lot harder than people realize and I'm sure you learned a lot.
That said, the jump mechanics weren't really working for me and I couldn't get over the first black column. Sometimes it would single jump, sometimes double, and sometime triple, but somehow never enough to get over that dreaded black column.
Anyways, congrats again on finishing your first (of many) game jams. Would appreciate if you checked out our game too. Best of luck!
Really fun game, I had a great time learning the different movement techniques and trying to chain them together! It is pretty difficult but it kind of felt like Dark Souls in that I learned from my mistakes and then wanted to keep retrying using my new knowledge. I had some trouble knowing when my shield would be ready and I took a few hits because of that. So, I think adding a cooldown indicator or something like that would be really helpful. But overall really great job, especially for a solo developer!
If you have the time, we would really appreciate it if you could rate our game as well. Thanks! :)
I liked the game, but it was pretty hard. I like that you have to be creative with the movements to get past the levels. Please rate my game, as I need many more ratings to qualify.
Graphics and sound are very simple (while the sounds are very fun!), and at least I haven't gotten to the point where it gets really messy because it's pretty hard. I also think that there are no checkpoints, which is quite frustrating. Which is a little unfortunate, because the many mechanics could make for some interesting level design. I got through the first level and then died pretty quickly, but even though the controls felt a bit clunky, it was still interesting.
Very fun game !
However I think starting all over from game over is a bit harsh :c
Aww. I was really excited to be just a rock, but that eroded when I couldn't make it past the first tall black rectangular thing. Tried attacking it, multi-jumping over it, jumping from farther away...but I failed. Whoever said that "paper beats rock" is mistaken. Tall black rectangle beats rock. I skipped rating the game since it seems a tad unfair with so little progress into the level. Rock looks cute though, and the audio was adorable. Eespecially the reversed audio when the shield goes down. It'd be cool to see gamepad bindings added - I'm much more comfortable on a platformer with a gamepad than with keyboard/mouse.
Sorry it felt unfair. The first level was designed to force you to use all of the movement abilities before progressing to combat. Passing the black wall requires using a dash. I use a keyboard and mouse so I designed the controls for that. Dashing uses LShift so it must not have a native bind to a controller. If you're still interested in just being a rock you could use LShift to get past the wall then go back to how you normally play. The game will be more difficult without using the dash, but it is still playable once passing the wall. I'll make my game more accessible next time. Thanks for the feedback
Impeccable sound design. Would've played more but dying took me back to the start each time... Wall jumping and dashing was fun!
