In what way does your game fit the theme?
Having to jump off of your past self to progress and having to restart from the very beginning after every death to continuously have to jump off of your past self to progress and sometimes being forced to die in a location so that you can jump off of your past self to reach the platform you are trying to get too.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I downloaded freely available assets which are allowed for commercial/personal use and are referenced if you follow the 'Credits' button from the launcher. I followed some tutorials to get some of the code but not a lot of it.

Controls are nice, does feel like I shouldn't have hit a spike sometimes though and wish the jump didn't have a cooldown, I do like having to go back to the start on death though really adds a fear in dieing

Really enjoyed this game. The music and graphics are extremely nice and I love how smooth the controls are. Great job!

If I work on this in the future I'll fix the lengthy cool down issue! :)

The idea was really cool! I wish the jump had no cooldown, and the game had checkpoints, other than that, very cool game!

The death mechanic was very fun however I had two problems. One was the jump cooldown which was annoying when combined with the fact that you cam't walk over two bodies if one is up and down and one is rotated. The other issue which was situational, was that i got stuck because I pushed the ghost thing at the start with bodies put it pushed me back and I got stuck by the hill. So I couldn't move or jump out. This game mechanic could definitely be improved with more polish as it was very fun and interesting.

I've turned this game into robot cemetery, 10/10.

A really neat concept, using your own death to get further into the game! :)

I didn't really see the need for the jump cooldown though, and I think allowing the player to control movement while jumping would make it a lot smoother (I find that taking away control from the player makes it feel like a death was the game's fault rather than the player's, which is far more frustrating than if it's the other way around). Also, is the attack used for anything? I tried attacking the enemy but every time I got close enough I died and respawned at the beginning (and since red bars are usually associated with HP, it took me a while to realize it was related to the attack cooldown).

Otherwise, the pixel art, animations and the setting are really nice, the menus and UI were clean and not too complicated, the dialogue telling you how many times you'd died was a nice touch. Reminded me of the monument in Majula in Dark Souls 2 (R.I.P).

Cool game the idea is really good fits the theme well, i wish there was checkpoints having to run back from the start every time is annoying when the wizard keeps on updating me on how many deaths i have >:(

Oh! wow! this is such a cool idea, the dead bodies mechanic is awesome and original. congrats! :)

Also, good job with the GUI, looks so clean and functionable, you are very talented!

This is funny!!  I spend hours playing it, thanks for doing this.

neat concept :>

Very cool! I didn't expect finding my dead bodies as a way to progress. Loved how that goes with the theme.

I had a lot of fun playing this game. I really like the die to progress theme, reminds me of Hades like!!

Good game, I had a rough time understanding why I couldn’t jump at times or other times it seemed like id get stuck on geometry, liked the sound effects but found a little bit frustrating that every time I died I would have to come back all the way to the start, maybe a checkpoint system would have been good :)

[SPOILER AHEAD]

Hey, glad you liked it, I didn't really have much time with this due to other stuff going on outside of the game jam, the lack of a checkpoint system is intentional though because I wanted to mess with the player a little by having the NPC at the start tally up the player deaths and having the player at the start every time means the player could potentially accidentally die again and be pushed back to the start to have the NPC say the player's death total again.

Nice game!

I have a similar mechanic where you need to die to progress too :D

You took it to a different direction tho.

Well done!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Nicely made.

Using bodies as physical objects is an interesting idea and fits the theme very well. It would be better if the box collider is a square instead of rectangle.

The game would feels better if the jumping cool down time is a little bit shorter I think.

Anyway, great job.

Developer

Yea I do agree with the jumping mechanics, also had another after thought on making an enemy potentially throw stuff as well which would fit well in my eyes. Thanks for the nice words :)

Real nice one. The fact that you'd have to die to help yourself cross over was so fun to me. Great job...

Thanks :)
