Gorgeous visually
The jumping and landing SFX is very satisfying
The enemies are terrifying
Feels very polished
Dying feels like a jumpscare
I feel like the connection to the theme is a bit loose
Lovely design. The movement felt a little off and the walking sounds have been weird. Other than that you got a nice game there.
This ticks a lot of the boxes of an amazing jam game: solid mechanics, stunning visuals, puzzles that aren't too hard but not a pushover either. Close it off with great atmosphere where everything is really well tied together.
A minor thing for sure, but really liked the way you guided the player (introducing the box for the first time) without having a giant arrow pointing at it. Beautiful, beautiful work at all fronts. My favorite game of the jam so far!
Great visuals, you have used almost everything I know that can be used to enhanced visual in a 2d game.
The puzzles are not very hard neither very simple, I had a great time playing this.
Love the art style and music, reminded me of Ori. Great camera movement as well.
Platform part needs some improvements, I got trapped in the following area and could not get back up on the platforms.
Oh did not notice that the last comment also complained about the same area, unfortunately I also ran into the same problem where I was not able to continue the game because of that issue
Unfortunately you were not trapped per say, as there was a death pit to your left, which upon entering would have restarted the level. But the issue the person below is mentioning is that the part you fell in felt a little cheap given it was at the end of a level, in a seemingly safe area, and repeating the level was something they didn't wish to do.
Oh I see, yeah I do agree that failure in a level should be more about player informed decisions/actions and should not be about something that is out of the hand of the player. Since I did not have the knowledge that jumping from this platform can get me trapped, I felt a little bit cheated.
Wow this game has some of the best visuals and environmental story building in the jam! I loved the little flowers that would pop up when you get close, and the enemy designs were straight up terrifying! The relation to the theme was also cool, with the light bug who would wipe the screen of enemies.
The gameplay is a bit slow and bland, which is not an issue at all with story/art games like this. This only becomes an issue when the checkpoints aren't placed close enough to each other and the player has to walk long distances/ re-watch cutscenes when they die. The first time I go through the level, it's an amazing work of art, but if I die and have to replay a big chunk of the level it turns into a tediously slow walking/jumping simulator.
The part I quit the game was when I jumped into a seemingly safe area which left me with no choice but to die since I couldn't make the jump, meaning I would have to replay the whole screen:
Overall though you did a great job of building up a world I would want to return to! The environment design and overall feel of the game is excellent!
Thank you so much for playing, and the kind words! That is an extremely valid point! Unfortunately I added the cutscenes near the end of the jam, and despite really wishing I could, didn't have time to implement checkpoints. If we ever continue working on it, I will remember your feedback and implement them right away! Thank you again for checking it out, it really means a lot! :)
The graphics and audio go very well together! The demons were actually scary at times! The environment also looks amazing with the fogs and lighting!
The controls were not responsive at times (but it is understandable because it was made in a week!). If you wish to continue working on the game after the jam, I would suggest perfecting the platforming controls first but other than that,
Great job!
Thank you so much for checking it out! I am really sorry to hear they weren't responsive, as everything is snappy on my end. But of course it will vary system to system. I think the major issue is I was using an outdated version of unity, and alot of the packages used in this project were still in experimental for me. This has also led to reports of major inconsistencies and frame loss aswell. Upon updating the engine, I hope I will have more success guarenting consistent results, thank you very much for your feedback as I had yet to hear of issues with the controls, but most of all, thank you for playing! :)
The visuals are stunning and the audio fits so nicely, may I ask how you did the fog and lighting I attempted something similar with my game but scraped it because it wouldn't work
Thank you so much! The lighting is a combination of semi transparent bg sprites, layer orders, and glow effects using the soft round brush in photoshop directly on the sprites. Also by using Unity's 2D renderer, I was able to add 2D lights, which further enhance the glows I made. The fog was a wispy cloud I drew in photoshop being spawned via particle system. The settings on the particle system were size over lifetime, and color over lifetime. The result made the fog spawn in small and transparent, grow to a reasonable size while slowly becoming semi-transparent, and finally it would go transparent again, and despawn. I just started a youtube channel about 2 weeks ago, and since everybody has been commenting on how nice the game looks, i'm thinking the next video I will show how to make a similar environment.
wow, I didn't expect this much info, thank you so much
No problem! If you run into problems, you can contact me on here, or the brackeys discord. Always happy to help someone who is willing to learn :)
Wow, firstly our game has is kind a similar! Very glad to see such kind of game. Artstyle is super. Small details amazing, that blue flowers and red, and everything these small details, that make game looks beatiful. Characters and animation, great!
Great work!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)
This was so much fun to play! Thankyou for sharing it with us^-^
Thank you for playing it :)
The art style is amazing and cute fits into the game theme perfectly. I played it trough start to finish and enjoyed every aspect of it, tough some times the white cute puff tends to bug sometimes when she jump but other than that an awesome game!
Thank you so much! "White cute puff" is so wholesome, it should become her official name :)
Very cute game, and I love the spooky theme going on. The monster designs were the best part of the game for me, and I really like how they get faster and chase you if you get too close. The flying one was especially very spooky. I'm most impressed with the AI though, coding a platforming AI that worked in the span of a week probably wasn't easy.
One thing I would've done is made the music track longer, or add different music for different sections. It does get repetitive listening to the same chords over and over again. The AI is also a little funky at times, sometimes it doesn't follow you even on really short steps. I would have also added a restart button. I know the green pools serve as a way to kill yourself and reset, but I actually trapped myself with the big blocks at one point and had to restart the whole game.
Overall, great game and sweet graphics. You created a very pretty environment, and I'm glad I got to play through it to the end.
Thank you so much! While playing your game, I could definitely see a resemblance to ours, which made me happy someone else had the same idea :) .. Yes the two major things that ate at my time was the AI and cutscenes, I really wish I had more time to refine both of them!
I totally agree with the music track! I had asked the composer for a loopable track, but it was slightly shorter than expected. If it wasn't for the time constraint I'm sure he could have made it longer, or made multiple to fix that issue. Thank you so much for letting me know you got stuck, if you can remember, do you mind telling me what part?
Thank you so much for your feedback and trying it out, it really means a lot :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to recreate it. I will definitely have to move that wall on the left closer so the block must be against the wall in order to get up there. I'm sure you figured out that was the intended way things were supposed to play out. Thank you again!
Wow, great visual! I like the dark atmosphere in games (and tried to make same in my game) and this sound design is cool!
Thank you so much :)
Awesome everything pretty much. Great work, amazing to see what can be done in a short time with the right people. Thanks!
Thank you so much for streaming our game, I really appreciate the kind words and the feedback I received :)
The visuals are absolutely stunning, one of the best I've seen during this jam. The gameplay was interesting as well. I especially like the block puzzles. Sometimes I had issues with the white character not following and the loading zones not working immediately (even though I had both characters inside them). The one big downside was performance. The game ran around 20 frames per second for me on average. While I don't have the most high-end PC, it isn't a potato, either and usually, it handles games of this level of complexity without issues.
Thank you so much for playing! I have heard about the performance issues, which doesn't make sense, because it ran at a solid baseline of 250fps in the unity profiler. As you said there isn't anything all to complex running , so I think the performance issues are because i'm using an older version of unity with the 2D renderer. So if I were to update unity and build, it would likely fix the issues! But thank you for letting me know that your pc is actually half way decent, I wasn't sure how bad the performance issue actually was, and I will update once the jam is over. :)
This is stunning! I’m sad to see that it doesn’t have more ratings yet. This is all the best parts of the vibes of Limbo and Hollow Knight and also its own unique feel. A lot of the world gives me the impression of being underwater and I found myself just stopping to admire all the intricate details you put into the world. Really great work. I got stuck in a section that I wasn’t sure how to proceed, I wasn’t sure if I was missing something or if the AI was unable to follow me up some steps for some reason, but I want to go back later and try to figure that out. Thank you for sharing this!
Here’s my game if you’d like to give it a play.
Thank you so much for checking it out! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and it is very flattering to be compared to the likes of limbo and hollow knight! It could have been the ai, but as a tip, she can't jump as high as you, which requires you to solve some puzzles, so it could have been that as well. Thank you again for your kind words, I have checked out your game, and left you a comment :)
STELLAR visuals and audio, very good game overall
Incredible work!
Beautiful designs, fun gameplay, good music, and very nice visual story telling.
This was probably my favorite submission so far.
Really don't know what else to say other than amazing job!

Thank you so much for checking it out! It really means a lot! :)
Really cool game this, very well thought out with the art style and the freaky monsters chasing you faster when they see you, great job!
