Ranked from 8 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
You alone are tasked with maintaining a ship designed for a crew of 30. Your background as a dolphin behaviouralist has left you unprepared for this scenario. To make matters worse, the ship gradually falls apart no matter what you do. And the android overseeing you may not be very forgiving... "Nothing can go wrong" in the taste of irony.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
A few sounds and textures. The VAST majority of this game is 100% original and created during the jam.

The majority of textures were hand-painted by our 3D Artist, Olaf. And all textures were altered in some way to fit the game's style. Only 5 textures - the foliage - were not hand-painted.

The majority of sounds were created in-house by me, ScaleShift. For some examples: to record footsteps, jumping, and landing, I was running around outside holding my cell phone by my feet. To record sliding I slid my hand across my desk next to my microphone. Etc. The sounds which were not recorded in-house were nonetheless almost all altered in some way as well.

This game is definitely well made! The only thing I struggled with was the player controller/movement system. At many times, I found myself repeatedly jumping against a ledge, trying to vault over it, or getting flung in a random direction via the wall run mechanic. But despite that I still think the care gameplay is well done! The narrations are a great touch, and the SFX and visuals are spot on! You all have done a wonderful job and should definitely be proud!

Thanks for playing our game

I like it,  flying around a room from spot to spot is pretty fun.
The futuristic 3D retro ascetic is really cool.
I just really wish there was a tutorial of sort, I didn't understand the movement system well enough and that made it feel inconsistent.
It's very impressive this was managed in under a week.

Very good game and great audio! I really liked the bhopping you could do, and it made the game very fun.  Kinda reminded me of portal. Good job!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, definitely was drawing from some GLaDOS inspiration for the AI.

Really cool game! I like the concept and the movement feels nice and fast. It'd be nice if there was an indicator of which terminal was which thing that was going to make me fail soon. I like the wall climbing and wall running stuff, but I didn't fully understand how any of it worked. Great work on the game!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game. All of these were on our todo list during development, but sadly we ran out of time. There are instructions on how to use each movement tech on the game page.

Really love the game and the audio! I love the narrator voice. Movement was also real nice! Another thing i loved was the inclusion of an exit game button, most downloadable games dont have that simple feature to exit :)

Thanks!

great game! Very polished. Insane you did this in a week. I think one thing that could help you in the future is the sound mixing? It feels very sloppy, especially the wall running sound and dashing.

It really hurt my ears whilst playing. I wonder if you were to production use it in the future to just use a mixer to turn them down? Also, I didn’t really understand what to do in the game so I just kept running around lol. I think the same with the music, it was very repetitive, especially it just being an acoustic drum set. Felt like you could’ve done more with it :/ anyway, really great game, still can’t believe you did this in a week. The art is great! Thank god I have a windows PC so I can play.

Developer

Hi, thanks for checking out our game!

Sorry to hear that you didn't understand what to do in the game. Did you read the instructions on the Itch page? I know that it would be ideal to have things like:

  • a tutorial in-game (and we did sort of have that in the way of the voice acting)
  • the specific outstanding tasks glow, and
  • the rate of new tasks to do starting out a bit slower

But we simply ran out of time.

In regards to the audio - that was made in the last 8 hours due to some coordination issues so there wasn't much time to make sure it was great. But it's not like we released this game thinking the audio was awful. In fact, the audio sounds completely fine to me, so this is a surprise. I mean, the music is garbage, I agree. I made that song like 10 years ago lol. But none of the effects sound loud or sloppy to me. I wonder if the issue is just that the overall volume is too loud by default, and if you just turned down your volume it would sound fine (apart from the music). If so, then part of the issue may be the lack of the opportunity for us to develop a menu and options and playtest more to get a feel for the default overall main volume.

I'm glad you liked the art - Olaf is really talented at making 3D assets.

Do you have a submission that we can check out? I clicked on your profile but no games show up.

the audio in the game was very harsh and loud, so I think you should’ve implemented some sort of mixing? Other than that, an ok game. The premise was funny, but I think more care should’ve gone into not destroying my ears 😂 especially on the music. I couldn’t hear most of what was going on and it felt pretty random. Also, make it accessible for all platforms! Can’t believe people only upload for windows these days, crazy…

Hi, thanks for trying our game.

We have no plans to develop for any platforms other than Windows. The thing is, I can't test any builds I would be making for Mac (for an example of an alternative platform) because I don't have a Mac, so I can't reasonably build for that platform. I am interested in Linux, but I have no plans for that right now.

Sorry to hear you didn't like the audio. In playtesting we didn't notice any problems with the audio. Although, it was made in the last 8 hours of the jam so there wasn't a ton of time to make and check everything. I'm a bit confused at your description of the negative experience. You say the audio is too loud but also too quiet, which seems contradictory. I'm sure something is wrong, just trying to understand what specifically is.

Sheesh, cant believe you did this in a week and majority of the art was your team! Great work! Definitely one of the best i've played. And the funny voice lines cracked me up.

Developer

Thanks so much! I feel so embarrassed that it wasn't more polished. Thanks very much!

it may be hard to believe but the controls are rly hard in this game. but the voice is funny
Developer

Wow, a video! Thanks for taking the time to do that :) If you thought my voice acting was funny, you actually missed the most comical voice line in the game (imo) because you were so patient! If you interrupt the android boss during the opening intro speech by interacting with any task, you will get a special voice line :)

You should add an audio settings because some SFX were very loud but otherwise fun game

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing our game! There were so many things we wanted to add to the game but sadly the time constraint was very tight so we didn't get around to that.

I tried playing your game but couldn't download it. I'm not sure if the problem is on my end or the games.

No Compatible downloads were found error. I found a link here that might help, let me know if it does. :)

Developer

Hi - thanks for trying! This game was developed for Windows desktop. If you are using a different operating system, that may be the cause of this issue. Unfortunately, I have no plans to develop for any platform other than Windows for the foreseeable future.
