How does your game fit the theme?
You play as a teruteru (sunshine ghost) ironically trapped in some annoying kid's snowglobe. You have to defend its little island against the stormy onslaught of notes/snow and debris flying in all directions every time the snowglobe is shaken.

Our twist on the theme was to make our snow globe-inspired rhythm game have both a chill CALM phase and a STORM phase with more chaos different mechanics. Debris will be flying randomly, ready to destroy your precious island, and you cannot let it.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
yes, even the music

Good mechanics/ Best art

Developer(+1)

tyy, your game has the best art, the girl on the beach for the cover is so beautiful and cute, and the environment of the beach and glowing sand is so good

Submitted

Good mechanics with a good vibe.  I did miss a bit that the difficulty of the game couldn't be changed, but I still had fun with it.

Developer

yee def wud be a good future addition, levels

Submitted

Art is very pretty! I also liked the music choice and the overall vibe is super aesthetically pleasing.

Submitted

I really loved the game, I feel like it has a ton of potential!

Submitted

Love rhythm games, and this is a pretty good one! The art is very appealing, and the music and sounds are super soothing. Wasn't too challenging but I still missed a few notes. Great work!

Submitted

Good music

Submitted

Nice start for a first game! I think the next thing to implement would be something that punishes players for hitting all the buttons at random.

Submitted

Aaaah I love the aesthetic it's just so pleasing and cozy, the game is quite nice too!
Would genuinely love to see the concept finished or expanded upon! Congrats!

Developer

his! thank u sm :D Im tryna get it to ramp up into intense in the storm phase but ye, I also really like the animation/immersiveness of your game esp the cute kitty photos, except I use a trackpad and couldn't get the keys to work... :0

Submitted

Interesing approach! I like the music and visuals and also the transition between calmlness and storm! One detail - I prefer when arrows match music, like in other rythm games

Developer(+1)

ty! i also prefer arrows match music, made the beatmap by literally going through my entire song to write a list of the exact milliseconds of every note n arrow  but I think something went a bit messy within the code aa T.T, most are supposed to match tho if you press it at the right moment

Very good game. One thing is that you have this really grating noise for the missing of something, and if you keep it, id suggest also having health. The way I see it, you could go for either relaxing or hard, but right now it leans towards relaxing minus the sound. That is the only bad thing I saw in it personally, and that is really nit-picky. This is amazing for a first game.

visual sell out the show for me ... dam those rings looking to fascinating for me. also music was really really impressive considering that you made the music. but i feel game could have been more immersive . like i didn't usually play rhythm  games so i cant tell that the bpm was correct or not .. or any technical things . but all i can say is that there was a missing " Curve " like slowly progress and then end satisfaction ..
also the game ends pretty weirdly like it just music turn off ,nothing special

i hope you will talk to mod's on discord and improve this .. or just take all you learn from this project and implant in your next project ... hope you best of luck ...you have some really cool skils in Art and Music

also you can check out my game also ... its also Art based  game like yours . but its a puzzle platformer  ... you should definitely try it

thank u! it was such a struggle cuz it was my first time making music, so I'm glad it worked out! For sure the concept we had planned and vision didn't exactly match what we had done since we pretty much only on the last day to do majority coding wise  and massively ran outta time, and ye good idea to add a congrats screen at the end, alongside a score counter for "perfect", "mid", and misses. I tried out your game! I love the vibes and the minimalistic graphics and color palette. Interesting decision to make our sprite a glowing cube :O! My critique is it got pretty annoying to have to redo the previous levels too every time I died, and for me it wasn't intuitive to figure out what was supposed to happen... maybe like a level savepoint thing wud be helpful :D gj tho as well

Submitted

Thank you for the genuine feedback. I’ve received quite a few complaints about the jump physics and the world save points, especially how players have to redo all the "calm world" sections repeatedly.

The idea was actually intentional. I thought it would be cool not to include save points, so players would need to go through the calm parts again before entering the portal, and then, with the timer, they’d rush into "storm mode." This was meant to reflect the "calm before the storm" concept.

However, I feel I may have failed with the difficulty. I set it subjectively based on my own experience, thinking it would be challenging with  those jumps and save points. But I realize now that instead of being challenging, it just made the game frustrating for players.

I'll definitely make these small changes after getting permission from the Discord mods.

Good luck with your game, and thank you for your valuable time!

The art is so beautiful, and such a unique concept. Really cool game. Well done. I hope you get to finish it!

Developer

thank u!! we are gonna keep on polishing for sure since we were unable to flesh out all of the concepts in time :D Also gotta figure out why everything is so tiny and blurry on itch.io... it's my first time so I don't know how the uploads work and if quality and sizing changes etc. Did you also do this game jam?

I feel that! It's frustrating when you have a clear idea of what you want from the game but not enough time to execute it. But I thought it was fabulous! I teamed up with KaptainKermit on Goblin Guard and did the art for it. Also still figuring out how the art actually translates into the game and looks in finished product.

Submitted

Love the art! I wish the island was a little bigger so i could see them a bit better

Developer(+1)

Thank uuu! :D yeaa same I planned for the setup like this but somehow the camera settings during the export/ upload phase got messed up? Like is the cam way tinier for you? Somehow people are seeing different things

Submitted

Yeah for some reason its way tinier than intended for me. I really love your art style nonetheless.

Developer

YEA we just figured it out! It was the export "stretch" setting that was chosen wrong... glad to know it was a simple stupid mistake LOL, tough noobie things. Hbu did u make a game for this?

Submitted

Really loved the visuals on this rhythm game! The tranquil background noise and vibrant light colors on the arrows really got me sucked into it - really job well done!

Developer

thanks sm tim >:D i was kinda sad the visuals got pretty messed up during the upload but im glad u still like them!

Submitted

Lovely cute game with beautiful visuals, that's all what I need it. Good job :)

My game is also really cozy and athmospheric, check it out. I will really appreciate it!

Developer

Thank u! I love love your cover art, and the graphics are clean and concept interesting how you have to interact with your grid environment... i had trouble figuring out the mechanics tho got pretty confused about how to move and pick an action

Submitted

I was a very relaxed for the entire duration of the game. Great graphics and sound though.

Developer(+1)

yee we ran outta time to fix the beatmap + make the storm effect so it was just moreso calm but def working on the separation rn personally! thanku

Submitted

Alright looking forward to the updates. By the way, feel free to check out my submission, storm jumper.

Submitted

Absolutely loved the music. Had fun playing, though a score for hits/misses would be a very nice touch.

Developer

ayy tyty! our plan was to implement score of perfects, mids, and misses and also way to fail and have the island be destroyed, but sadly could not get to it in time :(... but working on it after now still to polish

Submitted(+1)

Great fairy atmosphere !

Developer

Thanks! What do you mean by fairy though? Also great job on your game as well! It's super well polished in presentation and you even have a logo and start screen! and escaping the sharks was pretty fun... did you draw the cover art?

Submitted

The artstyle is really cool and the notes that obscure the space arround them so you have to anticipate when thell be over the button are really cool

Developer

thank u!! got a bit sad that the game looked so blurry and zoomed out for me on itch.io that i couldn't rlly see the island or graphics much anyway, but i did enjoy designing the notes n stuff >:D

Submitted(+1)

Fun game and love the visuals!

Developer

thanks bas! I rlly like the unique style of visuals in your game too, especially the textures
