In my opinion, needs polish but good base :)

Developer

Polish is something my games have always lacked, I appreciate the feedback

Submitted

This has the foundation for a solid title, but it's lacking in the current state it's in.

Developer

I am planning on expanding this after the voting period ends. By lacking do you mean in polish or in features/game design?

Submitted

Great concept for the theme! A little more polish on the visuals, sounds, and gameplay and it'll be a really solid game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I am planning on actually putting in work on visuals and sound after the voting period, but can you tell me what you though lacked in gameplay, I would appreciate it.

Sure, gameplay wise, I have a few suggestions. I think the starting shoot speed is a little too slow. I know the idea is to build speed with power ups, but I think the overall fun factor would be better shifting everything to the faster side. Second, for a top down shooter type game I think the player needs some more health. Rather than having a few enemies and a few points of heath, there should be a lot of enemies and a lot of health to give a better feel of action and danger. Lastly, (this one's minor) I think there would be a benefit to have a checkpoint after the tutorial rooms to not have to do it over after the player already understand the basics of the game.

Developer

Thanks for the suggestions, I might incorporate most or all of them!

I really like how the theme was used. Spawning more power ups on later levels if you go faster really encourages the player to play fast and makes skipping exploration for more power-ups a viable decision. However, the game is quite basic with little polish and no sound. Still, I had fun and the game does a good job at encouraging the player to go fast.

Another cool thing, is that bullets can collide with each other. idk if it was intentional but it's pretty cool seeing them bounce off each other.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like you had fun! Yes the bullets colliding was half-intentional, but I am planning on making that interaction even better (sounds, particles, new velocity to the bullets) I am planning on actually working on the sounds and visuals after the voting period ends. Thanks for playing!

I like how you took the theme!
Music and smaller rooms could improve this game's feel.

Developer

I am planning on actually working on the sounds and visuals after the voting period ends. By smaller rooms you mean so a player can see the entire room they are in currently (this should have been there from the start), because I have been thinking about adding this as a feature.

Submitted

By smaller rooms, I meant that the rooms are relatively empty, you can shrink the size of the rooms, add more things to each room or make the player's vision larger as you said.

I like the concept idea, where less time spends on a level makes the power-ups more on the next one. It's like giving the player to be quick and fast while trying to stay alive, or risking to stay at one place and collect all of the power-ups. The shooting mechanic is annoying; I can't shoot properly to a certain position, especially when I'm moving. I wish there would be a way to skip the tutorial instead of following it all over again, both for the normal and challenging mode. Everything else is fine. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the thoughtful review! The tutorial was added in the last minute, but I will definitely be revisiting it after the voting period ends. I did notice some people struggling with the shooting mechanic, I will try to rework it.  Thanks for playing!
