One of the more interesting approaches to the "less health = more power" concept I've seen in the jam.  Especially since it specifically changes not only the damage, but the size and movement of the player.  The visuals have a very specific and personally interesting style to them, though a animation for movement on top of an idle animation would be nice.  A few finer points though:

  • The movement was nice, and it was clear to see the difference in the sizes very quickly.  Though it was a bit surprising the first time to see less health lead to a bigger golem it was an interesting change.
  • The idea of adding and removing abilities was really interesting, it wasn't expanded on too much, but the basic idea has a lot of potential.  Adding more variation would be nice and could lead to some interesting puzzles with health placement etc.
  • Though the default player does seem a bit underpowered.  It took a mass amount of damage to kill an enemy.  I feel like a way this could possibly be fixed with the current game though would be to lower the starting health, and just counteract it with more, or even just the same amount of pickups.  That way at the start you deal more damage and move a bit slower, but then you're introduced to your faster but weaker version at 4 health so you can balance the pros and cons.
  • This was one of the few "have more = less of _" concept games where there was no mechanic to just "get rid of" the item you're picking up.  Which was a nice change of pace since most of the time adding that in the others made the mechanic mostly useless in my experience.

Overall the base mechanic and the visuals along with the execution of this game have me interested.  Plus, it's not a Unity game.  Godots the best !!!

Thank you for your feedback. I really like the idea that you don’t start with your max life. Unfortunately, I ran out of time with the animations, but it’s also a great idea. Thank you for your tips, if we keep working on it we will take over a lot of it. And I agree, Godot is the best!

The game was badly designed.

When the player is with full energy his attacks are almost useless.

The attacks in general were very slow to recharge leaving no satisfaction.

In the biggest form the player is unable to jump one tile upwards and this leads to a dead end, the sword attack also do not reach far enough to give the ability to attack an enemy in this form.

The shooting height changed in every size turning the shooting almost useless.

I am sorry, but this was a bad game.

No problem, that’s your opinion, and I respect that. If the player is in the biggest shape, you can jump up better with your bullet if you aim down in the air and get over obstacles. The shot height should be higher, so that the player is forced to use the sword. So, the bullet can only be used for mobility. Anyway, thank you for your feedback.

nice job! good take on the theme! It's a little hard to see what the visuals are, and enemies seem to take a lot of damage before they die (unless you're on your last heart, so I guess it makes sense). Just would have been nice to have a health bar above the enemies so I knew how much damage I was doing. Also, maybe it would have been cool to add a point system when enemies are killed or some other reason for rewarding killing enemies, otherwise it would be really easy to just jump over them to the end. this has a lot of potential to be expanded on, so good work!

I'd appreciate it if you could play/rate my game as well! :)

An interesting game to play! I like the sprite designs, yet the level design is a little simple, however it was super easy to control and play!

Thank you for your feedback. Time was tight on the Level Desgin, but it was big fun to make.
