As a base mechanic it sounds interesting, and you definitely had a decent, while short, difficulty curve introducing some interesting puzzle mechanics that could be used.  More content could definitely expand upon the concept pretty well.  Plus the (I'm assuming not but my interpretation) "parrot" character seems interesting.  Some finer points of feedback though:

  • Movement felt pretty precise, though a bit slow... which lead to a decent amount of misses or near misses with jumps.  I feel like speeding it up a bit and adding some acceleration could help with that.  Otherwise though the base movement is pretty good.
  • The color switching mechanic has a pretty nice way of displaying itself on the character with the cloak(?) color change indicating it, though the fact you can't see other platform colors lead to a decent amount of blind leaps hoping to land on a platform.  I feel like adding a slightly transparent version of the platforms and such rather than removing them entirely could solve this issue though.
  • The background was a bit jarring, just the fact it was complete black in relation to the other colors.  Especially on the menu screen where the red is closer to a neon and the blue is a darker tone which ends up with it blending into the background quite a bit.  Though knowing the name from the page helped with me to fill in the blanks at least.  Ingame though it was a little annoying, I could see the platforms and such, but just having such a straight black background was disorienting.  Maybe adding some lighter portions with shadows etc. to give a bit of difference to it?  Or making it a slightly lighter shade of gray could help?

Overall though the characters definitely interesting design wise and the mechanic was mostly executed well so if you end up polishing it up I'd definitely be interested in seeing where else it goes.

Wow thanks for all the feedback! I intend to keep polishing the game and i'll consider what you say. I want to imrpove the background to make it not so boring. I dont want to make the platforms visibles because part of the challenge of the game is to keep in mind where was the other collor platforms or at least that was my intent. Maybe if the player could see more of the scenario at once this could be easier, so i want to do that.
There are other areas i want to improve too (i haven't had much time this week)
Thanks for the advice anyway! I'll give a look to your game once i'm off work

I partially agree with you on removing the ability to see the other color platforms at all.  The issue that I think you'll run into though, which is one I ran into, is that players are going to be forced to constantly check areas.  I had a few spots where I figured I'd just be jumping from one platform to another.  Only to find out there was a button back where I was, and a platform that wasn't moving towards me because I didn't hit it since there was no indication it was there.

I feel like some slight hint could help.  That's why I recommended making them partially visible.

Developer

Actually that's a good point, maybe making all visible for an instant at the start... i thinks i'll try to make them partially visible like you said anyways hahaha.
Thanks for the help!

Very cool concept. I think i crashed the game twice by clicking when im on a moving platform. But the idea of having to switch between colors to reveal a different set of platforms is really cool.

Developer

Thanks! nice to know that problem exists, i'll have to work on that!

The mechanic of switching colours is really interesting and challenging, this game has incredible potential, I can see it with a little bit of polish, more levels, beign a decent indie game. Also the character design is cute and I like the simple pixel art style. Great work mate!

Thank you very much! It means a lot to me, it's just my second game. I want to keep working on it and upload a more polish version later!

I will be looking foward to it! The game looks really interesting. If I could suggest something, it would be checkpoints and gradually increase the distance, so player dont have to remember big parts right from start. Keep up the good work!
