I definitely agree with the other comments that it feels like Peggle, but with you controlling the design of the board. This is one of the most creative games I've seen as part of this jam.
I do wish that items had a better indication of what they did and that you could restart a run without closing and reopening the application as it feels like early choices can make later levels impossible.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and the kind words! Agreed, there's some balance to be done on items to promote synergies and varied play styles instead of just hoping for a good one. A full restart within the game is a great idea, will be sure to add that after the jam.

I love the graphics and the presentation - just when I really got into the gameplay and felt like I had a fun run going, it ended! Such a shame, I wanted to play more!

Developer

Haha, wish I could've added more levels but glad to hear you wanted to keep playing! Feel free to give me a follow and I'll be sure to post updates with new levels/items/mechanics after the jam. Thanks for giving it a try!

Simply a beautiful game.  Might be the most aesthetically pleasing game I've seen in the jam so far. Gameplay was simple and addicting. Felt like wonderful Peggle Pinball. Great job!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words!

Some of these levels were TOUGH... My heart was racing on those last few bounces trying to beat the Sleeping Giant. Gorgeous game, awesome vibes and art direction

Developer

The giant is ROUGH bro haha, I think I made him slightly too hard so I'll be sure to balance things out after the jam. Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback!

Wow! This game is so satisfying to play, the sounds and lights really scratch my brain nicely. Plus playing a game like this in the browser gave me major flash game nostalgia.

Developer(+1)

Really appreciate you giving it a try and the nice comments!

Wonderful presentation in this game for both visuals and sound. It’s probably intuitive enough as is but I wonder if the help message in Menu could just be displayed at the start – I didn’t know there were some instructions in there at first.  Had good fun experimenting once the game clicked with me

Developer(+1)

Definitely agree - some others suggested the same and I definitely plan to add a tutorial or instructions at the start once the jam is over. Thank you for playing!

fun game, browser version runs poorly

Developer

Thank you for playing and I'm sorry to hear you had issues! It runs flawlessly for me on Chrome. Otherwise, please try the Windows build!

really nice! i had a tough time with the difficulty, but after looking at the comments tried again and had a way easier time with different powerups... i think the first couple i got didn't do much. brought me back though because of the quality of the game, wanted to get to the end (and did)... great work

Developer

Yeah, I'm definitely going to put a lot of thought into balancing the powerups when I get back to working on it. Thank you for playing through to the end, I was really happy with the later level bumper gimmicks!

Honestly my favorite game so far! The visuals are great, it's polished, fun and original. One of the few games that managed to keep me engaged for longer than 5 minutes haha. Good job!

Developer

Really appreciate this! Excited to play your game!

Art style is really nice looking, personally I found the game to be very hard but maybe thats just me! I would love a feature to reset back to how you placed things, rather than how they were placed originally, nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and thanks for the feedback! Yeah, definitely some balance to be done on the difficulty, sometimes a new run with different items can help a lot though!

Submitted(+1)

Well polished! If no one told me I could believe this was a finished, non-gamejam game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for saying that! Glad you enjoyed it!

Loving the graphics and use of colors, sounds good too, it all melts together in a nice and pleasing way. It took me a couple of times to figure out how to get things to work, but the gameplay loop was satisfying.
Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Great game I really enjoyed the retro aesthetic as well as the sound effects. Having the fireworks explode feels very satisfying although it also made the game quite easy (after struggling through the first and second level).

Developer (1 edit)

Ah yeah, I think I can balance that one by reducing the exploding balls from 8 to 3 and making them more short lived . Thanks for playing!

I had a lot of fun playing this. The mechanics and level design was well thought out and the game is very replayable because you get to set up your own levels. I wish there was a tutorial at the beginning because I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing until I experimented on my own

Developer

Great call! I tried to explain the mechanics in the menu but a full tutorial level is a great idea. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Welp, this one is crazy good. A few other people have made suggestions for improvements but as far as game jams goes this is a solid 10/10. You guys should be proud!

Developer

Really appreciate you saying this! Excited to try your game!

One of my favorite presentations in this jam - the visuals and the music all just pair so well together!!! *chef's kiss*

I also thought this idea was super original, you don't mention it in your description of how your game represents power, but I think that giving the player the 'power' to design the levels in order to beat theme really stood out to me :)

I think others have noted this but will mention them anyways in case it's helpful. Being able to reset without moving bumpers would be HUGE. When I was playing I would very carefullly place my bumpers to make my little optimization brain be happy and imagine how I'm going to hit every bumper and it'll be so perfect, and then when I would hit place and start the level, if the first ball didn't go how I imagined I would have to scratch all the time I built into placing the bumpers.

On a related note, I think having more predictable bumpers would really help with this as well. I felt like I couldn't predict how my balls would bounce which was tough.

You might enjoy our game as well! It lets players design levels as well so it might resonate :)

Amazing entry overall! Can't wait to see what you make next :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! You inspired me to edit my description too. Definitely trying your game next!

Nice puzzle game! it  reminded me of the game of billiards.

Developer

Thanks so much! Pool was definitely an inspiration for the physics behind the game!

Super unique idea to create your own playing field to destroy things. took me a little bit on the first level to know what was happening. but once i got the hang of it I was zooming.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, I could bring the instructions more to the forefront instead of hiding them in the menu.

Submitted(+1)

great looks! i was confused by having to move-place the asteroids aswell as the bumpers,
going to give it another shot after having a powernap lol
it looks promising

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I could be a little more clear about this, but every object that isn't the player is technically a bumper. So you set up the entire playfield (aside from the player) and then start shooting.

Fun game with fantastic presentation!

But I do wish you could keep your layouts after each shot. Would allow for quicker iterations of trying things

Developer

I appreciate the feedback and agree!
