Cool game, impressive in technology and scope. Definitely made me want to play FtL again. The desire to stack weapons and smash enemies is getting triggered.

Obviously looks and sounds are semi-placeholders, so I am noting just some tech issues:

  • Everything is so damn small in general
  • Crew controls vs. door controls are tough, I felt that leftclick and rightclick both did the same thing, and if you click on a door while door controls are disabled, your selected crewmen run there instead. Also by default clicking on crewmen adds them to current selection rather than switching cur selection out?
  • Cannot click on "Start" anymore after losing once
  • Default game speed seems very fast, made me wonder if it was bugged for me
DeveloperSubmitted

Thanks for playing!
The smallness is a problem, not sure what to do, could make certain things bigger, but I think of the symbols as letters or words in a system. Once you recognize some small thing as indicative of an attribute it becomes a bit less indecipherable. Good point about disabled doors. The start issue I didn't realize was still in the windows version, I will need to update the downloads. The game speed can be adjusted with 'p' and 'o' and space. Also one thing I saw in the play was that you didn't use the 'z' or shift keys to read the information labels. I realize this is probably because they are never mentioned explicitly in the gameplay. Also scrolling the map is c+click/e+click and sadly not the scroll wheel.

Interesting information. By the way, why are the ship rooms (tiles) sometimes coloured and sometimes grey?

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Ships with graphics are gray, but the ships without graphics are colored in, otherwise they will be colored in by holding z or shift for information.

Firefox on Linux - the game breaks on first jump, gets stuck in the warp animation. Console says: 'Passed-in image  is "broken"'

Will try the native version on Windows

feels like a game made by aliens but its pretty cool

Great game, lots of fun.

Lots of soul, i dont think ive ever seen anything quite like it. The gameplay mechanics are really unique, and its built on an interesting idea i don't think ive seen anywhere else, but in being so unique it's very unintuitive for a beginner, and outside of long text tutorials i don't think the game does a very good job of showing you how to play through gameplay alone. If you intend to add a more linear progression, the first few encounters showing you how to play step by step would make things a lot more clear for beginners.

Great game! I wish there was a little more handholding when it comes to learning the game. Maybe changing the keybinds would help too as a new user

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Keybinds are due, good point. I'll make a rebinding system, and a menu for that matter, which currently there isn't one. Thanks for playing!

It has a lot of potential and heart! Keep it up

Played a run. Video:

The game worked badly on my browser, but well enough on my pc. I believe for such a large (500mb) game, it will be better to disable the web browser version.

I played FTL so getting into the game was easy to me. I still had some difficulties, mainly with activating the drones which I wasn't able to do. I tried using the encyclopedia for it, but at certain point the "-" key stoped showing it and it only zoomed in/out of the screen. I had fun watching the animals.

Rockets are OP.

Some text is difficult to read.

Right now left and right click move crew members around, I believe one of them (right click?) should be used to deselect them.

I had no idea how I survived that fire. I also have no idea how pomao survived all the way through until the very end.

Some feedback when a crew member is in danger would be welcome. I didn't realize I lost my arms guy until my ship stoped shooting.

I didn't understand what planets were for, did I miss something?

The guy who gave me the quest attacked me immediately after. Rude guy.

It is an interesting take on the FTL genre. You have polished the game a lot, which shows. Keep it up!

> "-" key stoped showing it
major bug I wasn't aware of, apparently if you try to look at the negative index on the animals list the encyclopedia breaks, thank you for finding this, I'll fix it.
>Rockets are OP
until you run out of ammo, but yeah I buffed them a lot recently, maybe a bit much.
>Some text is difficult to read.
I always forget to fix this because I kinda know the tips already, but good point.
>I had no idea how I survived that fire.
oxygen room burned, fire consumed the air, put itself out. You did a good job ultimately because the security room was the first one to go, making it hard to isolate the fire. Also you had a 'Tactical Water' which is as good as a fire extinguisher, but you never seemed to equip the crew with the gear you happened to pick up
>I also have no idea how pomao survived all the way through until the very end.
Pomao is atomic, he can't be disassembled or destroyed, problem is he falls asleep instead. if he is your last crewman, it's easy to softlock with sleeping pomao.
>Some feedback when a crew member is in danger would be welcome. I didn't realize I lost my arms guy until my ship stoped shooting.
yeah an audio maybe would be good, thanks.
>I didn't understand what planets were for, did I miss something?
there's a bit of a process into boarding. first you need the teleporter on, then you need a guy in the teleporter, then you press the teleport button. Without a guide it's hard to guess, I'll try to throw a teleporting section into the tutorial.
>The guy who gave me the quest attacked me immediately after. Rude guy.
This is a bug, you had a full inventory but accepted a delivery quest, the item never reached your inventory, so they became a normal ship.
>It is an interesting take on the FTL genre. You have polished the game a lot, which shows. Keep it up!
Thank you, and thanks for playing and the video, it was fun to see!

Also you had a 'Tactical Water' which is as good as a fire extinguisher, but you never seemed to equip the crew with the

I had no idea the individual crew members could be equipped, interesting! I must have missed that on the tutorial.

Pomao is atomic, he can't be disassembled or destroyed, problem is he falls asleep instead. if he is your last crewman, it's easy to softlock with sleeping pomao.

Makes sense, pomao is very powerful.

Needs a loading bar, since the black screen at the start confused me. The font for tips is so comically small it's unreadable. The music is awful. It seems to be impossible to open the menu after starting a game? When you hover over something clickable, there needs to be visual feedback. Overall playability and visual clarity is dreadful. There's no way normal people can play this. This feels like a game made for the programmer who designed it and nobody else.

DeveloperSubmitted

Honestly that's a fair assessment.  On the other hand there is an in-game radio with more than 200 songs on it. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Wth is the ingame radio? I got the same 10 second audio loop playing on repeat 😭

DeveloperSubmitted

in the bottom right there's a radio.

Submitted(+1)

What do the numbers mean? When I was a lad we had MHz on the tuner

DeveloperSubmitted

Each channel is just a looping track, changing stations is just changing songs.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Took me a while to get the game but now I see it.

There's still some things I overlooked but the idea of controlling the characters and put them under specific places of a ship is done in a fun way.

I seem to have disabled the ui on accident somehow and can't select my units (I don't know what they do anyway) anymore. I'll give it another try if you can give me some direction

(I see there actually is a tutorial now, I missed it when starting the game)

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

I think the UI disappearing is a bug that may be caused by playing the browser version (the game is large enough that sometimes not everything loads, when the game tries to draw an unloaded file everything downstream breaks too) if you are already playing the downloadable version, then that's a major bug I don't know the cause of.

In general to play the game the first thing to master is using the 'z' key and hovering over things you don't know what they do. The way to shoot is to put people in the weapons room, and shields is the shield room. That's the basics. There's also a tutorial but it's more or less what I just said extended.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

yeah my bad on missing the tutorial on the menu, I'll give it another go. This is the browser version
