Awww yeah, I love RPGs like this and you captured the feel perfectly. A love letter indeed. The writing's really good as well, I enjoyed talking to all the characters. I also appreciate the prompts, though I really wanted to take the little boy with me into battle.

I wouldn't say it's too difficult. Obviously, I haven't gotten that far yet, but I feel if it's a love letter to classic RPGs it has to pack a certain punch. Maybe not quite Phantasy Star 2 level punches where you spend years level grinding for dungeons, but you know what I mean.

Didn't notice what the camera sway was about, but maybe I already played an updated build.

It's already been said that the music is super good, but I have to say it again. The battle theme was nailed in particular. I hope once you insert non-placeholder music it will still be that great.

All in all, pretty amazing dude.

Thanks a lot. I'm glad you liked it.
I got rid of the camera sway in the latest version, so you probably played that.
I'm glad you liked the battle music. It's one of the two original tracks made for the game along with the first town theme.

Very cool and comfy. I really like the art. Everything feels good to control, and I like the feel of the world. I wish there was a bit more slow build up, it's a little overwhelming to have to put together your party, select classes, and gear up all right up front. If those elements were introduced more slowly they would feel more rewarding.  Like, if you started by yourself, and after fighting alone for a while, you got another party member. And eventually you get a full team going. Then you would be more appreciative of the help. Same for items. Maybe take the difficulty down a bit too, I had my party wipe the first time I went out into the world, against some skellingtons.

Overall, a lot of potential here. Keep it up.

Thank you. I wanted to get that old school feeling of instant action, but y'know adding a small intro event wouldn't hurt.
You just gave me an idea.

This feels so calming to play, like final fantasy 3 if it were on the gbc, but I'd suggest changing the camera sway to really nail that feeling.

The music is super good.

damn, a pink eye 1-shot 2 of my companions (named QT, QT2, and QT3 because I'm extremely creative) that seems a bit harsh for the first encounter I see in the game. But more power to ya if that's how you want it to be.

On the other hand, I see the I don't end up at my last save when I die, but the last church. That's good at least.

Very cute game, good luck in future development.

Thanks a lot. Glad you like it.
About the camera sway, what adjustments would you like to see? Or would you rater remove it altogether?

If you're planning on going for the classic ff/dq feel that I felt it had, then yeah, removing it would probably be the best move. It's a sort of modern mechanic for it to sway like that.

Developer

If it takes away from the feel of the game, I'll remove it. Thanks.
