I really enjoy the decisions I have to make in the game, I thought I just have to not feeding the monster with anyone to pass the game until I saw the alcoholic and the young driver, and then I thought it would be nice to eat some bad guys, so I basically just picked the worse person at the last two group of people. It is sad that I can only eat one of them instead of eat both.
Wow right away the decisions are super high stakes and challenge the player morally. I still am not sure if I made the right decisions or not, I definitely don't feel very good about my first play through. WHOA playing again I absolutely loved learning about The Light's backstory, it really gives so much more depth to the world and adds weight to the choices I'm making. Also beautiful language when describing the world and emotions of the characters.
My only criticism is I do wish there was a way to learn more about the story of The Light in almost every play through, because I really do feel like it is a key part of the story that shouldn't be accessible only some play throughs.
Positives: Love the image, enjoy the color switching, like "A sickening crunch",
Negative: I found a typo for "Hungerlets" Bonus: I wish there was some commentary for sacrificing the good people (the child) and letting the bad people live. But I appreciate that you let the player do it.
Wow this felt like such a journey! Each of the choices judging peoples' fates were really difficult moral decisions. I loved how the Light was commenting on your choices and guiding you. The color and images set the tone perfectly. I did not see the lore coming of how the Light and the Hunger are related. If I had to nitpick I'd say the Hunger did not seem very menacing. It would have been cool if when you don't sacrfice anybody the hunger will lash out or something, which would raise the stakes.
I am a big fan of the different endings. I like that being on either end extreme kind of gets you nowhere, while being moderate leaves you with a final choice. My first instinct was to feed the hunger every time, and I felt like I was getting judged HARD. Which is valid. The moral dilemmas were solid, but I feel like maybe there could have been more weight to them, or at least your decision between them had more of an effect on the game.
This game gives me the feeling that I need to keep playing. Both NPC's are compelling in their own ways. The Hunger itself being compelling as I wonder where it come from, what darkness brought this creature to the world. The Light, the voice of reason? It's a mystery. Kinda feel like the Light is responsible based on some of it's dialogue. The moral choices gave me pause. Made me feel bad about some of my choices. I would have liked to see some more color in the black background while text is displayed. That could have made it more creepy.
I like how you chose one NPC which does not speak human language but whose presence is strong, even 'heavy' in the story, and another NPC which communicates and explains what is at stake to the player. The connection and the rhythme between these two are very well balanced (one does not speak/does more than the other one one - I hope it makes sense) Also, the more you choose not to feed the monster and the less moral the choices of people are. I chose not to feed the monster and it was very difficult not to pick one from the last round. Very well thought !
i loved the premise of the game and the way that the moral questions ramped up over time, but I'm a little disappointed in the main ending i got. i like the ending if you refuse to feed the hunger but if you do it seems like you only have one ending and it seems like it doesn't give me as much to chew on looking back on my choices as the hunger being released. I also quite liked the style and the text colors and how much it communicated to the player.
