  • Enjoyed the premise and the art style, the mechanics were a little confusing at first but I got the hang of it. Shame about the ending bug, glad you have a fix in GitHub
  • Cool idea, great vibe, goes well with the theme, I am just not a fan of platforming and the controls could be a little tighter. This is one of the better ones I have played so far, good job!

What do you like about your game?
movement and/or the general style of the game. super proud, first time doing something like this

This is so good! The art style is very nice, the stylized shaders will sure be to Acerola's liking lol. I would've liked the mouse sensitivity to be adjustable and it was very easy to feel completely lost in the map but overall I really liked it!

Developer

thank you! the mouse sensitivity IS adjustable, it’s located in the pause menu

Oh... I would've sworn I looked for the pause menu at first, but saw only the book and mission there and I guess didn't think to look further lol

The art style of this game amazes me, and the parkour elements are great too.

this was a blast! the turn-based combat stuff was kinda meh, although the feeling of saving up a ton of treats and spamming them on the final boss was pretty fun. but all in all, anything that wasn't great got out of the way quickly, and the game really shined in moments where you could use wall jumps and the jump-buffer to go zoom. I'll def replay this at some point (thx for the text skipper, btw), the movement made a pretty small space feel really fun to explore.

the visuals were also a treat, I love the energetic wiggle on the lineart, and the fact that you made that work with the edge detection too makes it feel very cohesive. the dithering was a bit much at times, but never to the point of it being an issue.

I actually played the itch.io version w/ the giraffe bug first, so I had to go back and play the github version afterwards. the inclusion of the speedrun timer made the replay WAY less frustrating, since it felt like going back to challenge myself.

tldr: good vibeo game i like it 👍

This game looks distinctly neat and the platforming mechanics are pretty fun. I'm also a fan of the ridiculously cheesy dialogue.

I would like if I was more incentivized to use the other combat options, but they didn't feel effective or worth using compared to just aggressively petting the animals and getting bit two or three times.

Overall it's a pretty neat experience!

The platforming and presentation is honestly amazing for the time limit. I kind of got burnt out on RPS quickly though.

what is experimental videogame?

Developer

The presentation was really good, with the stylized characters and "drawn" world and everything else. The parkour was pretty fun and well made too, though I have no idea on how to get some of the candies. The problem I had was with the battling system. Making it so luck based and repetitive made it feel frustrating and boring, so it felt like a chore. If you improved on it by replacing the current main fight buttons (Kick and pet) with something else, this game would probably get pretty good.

Developer

thanks for the feedback!

The presentation and the parkour were very nice. Thanks for making this available on Linux :)

In my opinion, the battles were not fun. During battles, everything was useless (bite, convince, candy, kick), except for petting the animal; And petting was very repetitive and quickly got old.

Getting the game-breaking bug after the giraffe was not cool :/

Developer (1 edit)

no problem! i develop on linux so it made sense to make a linux build. unfortunately i can’t do anything about the bug during ratings :( sorry

Amazing game! From visuals to music, effects, and gameplay. Officially, my most favorite submission from this jam! I really loved the parkour mechanic and the pokemon-vibe I've got from the fights. Great job! 🥳
