Loved the game! Loved the visuals, the sound and the atmosphere they create. Love the voice acting, although I wish there were subtitles. For some reason it reminded me of a play station game ICO. I think, if you add some weird story to it and some exploring apart from gravity jumps, it can become an amazing game.
I got stuck for a little bit on the series of vertical jump platforms. For some reason the second platform was the most difficult for me. The last level cubes seemed unbeatable indeed. But then I decided to land on top of one of them and each time waited for two cubes to move in the same direction so the relative speed is slower to walk to the next cube. With a lot of patience I got to the other side. The rest of the level was easy. I really liked the "this is not the real end" thing on the floor and the platform that rises from below. I wish there was a final message from the voice apon reaching the end.
Great job! One of my favourite games of this jam!
thanks dude
Amazing artistic direction! What an atmosphere!
Difficulty progression is unfortunately not well balanced for me. The last level is difficult compared with the previous ones, quite easy. In addition I was not able to look up and down (did I miss something?)
With a better difficulty curve progression, more detailed animations for the avatar, more features and levels. You can make a commercial game with such concept (i can imagine buying it)
yeah, most of what i have heard and agree with, I should of made the last level more difficult so you knew it not possible. Not being able to look up and down was originally a bug that plagued the game development but as i got used to it, it became more of a feature allowing me to make the 2d spirit
this game has such a neat aesthetic, i love it! the atmosphere is suffocating, with a relatively harsh vignette that encroaches upon the muted colors used in the game's environment and character, creating this really cool vibe to it! the world makes you feel really small with the overlooking sculpts that just exist in the space, unaware and uncaring of your existence, its very nice! the highlight in visuals department is definitely the gravity representation, it goes CRAZY! i like how it looks when you're deep inside of the gravity layer with multiple different ones layered on top of each other creating the visual noise and dissonance that is both unnerving and satisfying to look at. really nice job on the presentation!
i also like how simple the game is, really allows you to just focus and take in the atmosphere. though i think that the game has a difficulty curve issue (or maybe its just a skill on my part xd). the game features 8 levels, 7 of which are short and simple, while the 8th one is this long gauntlet of tasks with no checkpoints. the game in my opinion doesn't really prepare the player for this point which leads into a spike in difficulty (i know i died a couple times near the end due to some of the precise jumps that are needed to cross some of the gravity gaps). its not too hard though, but its still pretty sudden and could frustrate some people.
regardless, this game was still fun and i enjoyed taking in the ambience of the game and looking at the striking visuals a lot, great work!
thanks, if i have learned anything from this game making a nearly impossible level really frustrates the player
Great visuals and ambient!
The character animation doesn't align with step sounds)
yeah, it's an audio recording with volume adjustments based on speed
Alright, I gotta say, this game looks REALLY good. aside from the player having a few too little frames (in my opinion), It looks clean and well done! The gameplay itself is pretty good - I like the fact that the gravity aberrations stack when put together in a puzzle. It would have been cool to see some high gravity aberrations. An oddity I found is that you could get caught on the edges of moving platforms. My issue though is that the final challenge is really punishing if you die late on. That happened to me, 10 minutes in, and wasn't great. Last thing is that the gravity aberrations can feel a little janky, especially jumping upwards to a higher up platform. I only realized later into the playthrough that the middle is where that height you need comes from, either that or I moved well enough, I'm not sure. I also had a bug where the camera didn't move properly until a bit in, not sure why. Overall, this game looks cool, has interesting mechanics, and has good background music, but can feel a bit too punishing, especially in the last section, and can feel a bit janky. Good Job!
thanks for the feedback
Your right about the gravity aberration, the middle is where it is the strongest, it uses the distance to the player to calculate it strength. I did not know about the platform oddity, i will see if i can replicate it. The last level was supposed to be impossible, i wish i made that clearer with the visuals that it was supposed to be nearly impossible. It also seems like i underestimated the skill of the player because it seems like most people are beating it
Huh, seems I was right! I like how it was quite visually obvious, though a note of that would have been nice. I didn't even know that the last level was supposed to be impossible, I would have beat it, although the two diagonal platforms screwed me up. Thanks for the response!!
The style of this game is amazing - I love the look! Great job...
Gameplay was a little lacking, but I just enjoyed the visuals regardless :)
Really love the visual style, super unique and eerie
thanks dude
Did it run fine, I'm kind of afraid I went a little bit too far with the graphics
