The atmosphere, sound design, the lighting and the immersion in this game are great. You become really scared while playing this game especially if you play it tired after midnight. Love the scary atmosphere and sounds. 5/5

Thanks so much! I mostly made it whilst tired after midnight too lol

this was my first time playing this, it scared the pee out of me

Just caught up on the playthrough - great fun to watch! "It looks like a friend" and "not hungry after all this time travel" cracked me up

The sound design was top notch! All the bumps and thuds sill managed to startle me even after my first run, and the music that kicked in about midway through added so much to the sombre atmosphere. I also really liked the filter options you provided in the settings; the grainy VHS look combined with low poly models gave the game a vaguely pre-rendered look, like the backgrounds in Resident Evil. Awesome game!

Thanks so much! Was very happy with how the audio turned out, so really glad to hear it was appreciated :)

Nice game! The atmosphere and sound design is great! It really was pretty scary.  It was also very polished and felt like a complete game. The graphics were nice as well, and I like the inventory system.

Although the differences between the pre-jam version and this version aren't many, the additional sound design really did a lot for the game's atmosphere and spook factor.

The couple of puzzles in the game are fairly simple and it didn't take me very long to solve them, but seeing as this is a short horror experience that mainly focuses on building tension, that's not really a problem.

One thing I do think would be great is if the inventory system had some sounds. Even if it's just some simple "beep boop" sounds for when your switching between items and using them, just to give players that extra bit of feedback.

Overall this is a short but sweet horror experience that genuinely got me at points. Great work!

Developer

This is really useful feedback - thanks so much!

I'm hoping to work on my puzzle design, as I tend to default to just "find the keys", but I think these sorts of games really benefit from more involved ideas, particularly if they link in to the themes. Time for me  to go back and replay a bunch of horror games for ideas!

Inventory audio is a great point, I'll aim to patch this in after the jam as you're absolutely right that it'd improve the feel a lot. I'll try and get the odd issue with misalignment as you scroll through too, as this has been bothering me for a while.

Delighted I was able to scare you! Always makes me happy :)

Glad I could help! If you're looking for horror games with good puzzle design, I think the original resident evil had some good puzzles. I 've only played a little bit of it, but it had some good stuff.

Also, although they're not necessarily horror games, point and click games like Myst are focused almost entirely on puzzles. So you might find some inspiration there.

Developer

Thanks! Love me some Resident Evil, but haven't played Myst - I'll check it out! Been a long time since I played any point and click adventures

Very moody and atmospheric game! The sound enhancements over the pre-jam version added so much atmosphere and creepiness. The graphics are really nice and I'm impressed how much detail you managed to get out of such low poly models and textures. Finding the "old school console" Was icing on the cake.

Well done!

Thanks! Sound design always feels so rewarding to do, it just makes so much difference. Glad you enjoyed it!

Well done, the sound design of the game was really immersive. The environement was also interesting to look at with many small details (maybe a bit too dark). On the puzzle side it was simple but effective. Congrats :)

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the sound design, it was a lot of fun to work on

Fair point on the brightness, I'll increase the range of the brightness slider in a post-jam patch :)
