This was fun and it looked genuine 90s. The gameshow aspect worked, too because as I was taking a full cart to the checkout I was mentally-screaming "Come on, Dottie! Hurry up!" If you expanded it, A.I. opponents would neat, random items around the store, upgradable carts, or have other stores, bigger stores as other levels, or a puzzle-variant of the game where you need to bring back specific items. Also, like mentioned below, an announcer would be great. Could be really funny, with comments throughout like a Outlaw Golf/Volleyball kind of commentator.

Thank you for playing, I'm very happy to hear you liked the theme, and even happier to hear you played as Dotty! Those are all really great ideas; an opponent or two and even some set-dressing NPCs would add a lot to the atmosphere, and I like the idea of random items and cart upgrades too. Puzzles or level specific events would be a great addition, and could probably be hooked into the challenge system currently in place. I can't promise all of this will make it into the next update, but at the very least, some new levels are on the way!
Fun game! You really nailed the 90s aesthetic in everything from the graphics to the music. It did take me a while to figure out how to check items out, so my first couple runs didn't go so well. It would be nice if there was an announcer or some text in the intro cutscene that explains that.
I checked out the pre-jam version, and it's definitely come a long way.
Overall, great work!
I'm glad you had fun, thank you very much for playing and for your feedback! That's a good point about the check out system, it definitely doesn't help that the score zone shares the same graphics as the areas where you pick up items, and it's sort of hidden behind the player when you first spawn. In the next update I'll revise that intro cutscene so it's more of a help to new players, and an in-game announcer is a great idea that would play into the "game-show" aspect perfectly!
I love this!
Gameplay is a lot of fun, and loved the range of characters available and the character select screen itself. I found taking Lance and heading straight for the meat aisle worked really well for me.
The 90s styling is absolutely on point - it's perfect thematically, looks fantastic and the tank controls are great.
Great job on the improvements, as the game has clearly come a long way from the prejam version :)
That's a nice one, I'm impressed by the overall polish level. Everything feels coherent in the universe. Gameplay wise it has potential, I like the old school way of moving the camera with L/R triggers. The various characters available are a nice touch too.
Maybe for a scoring game it lacks a bit on the juice side, but It could be due to the overall speed of the game and the relation with the music ingame. On the other hand the game fit perfectly the late 90's gamefeel, so what I mentionned could totally not be an issue.
Well done !
Thank you so much for playing and for your helpful comment, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the game! You're right about the scoring; the feedback is a bit on the weaker side and the scoring sound effect gets drowned out by the music. I hope to fix this in the next update and add a settings menu so the player can adjust the volume of the music, sound effects, and UI sounds separately.
This premise is so lulsy lmao, I love it. The aesthetic is on point, this screams old game show. My only nitpick is that the tank controls feel a bit stiff and I was getting some issues with the run key only working conditionally, but the game is so charming that I was having a blast regardless. Please make more levels in the future!!
Thank you very much for playing and commenting, I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the game! I've noticed the run key issue cropping up when the character starts turning while running. Somewhere during that transition, the character's movement speed gets locked and the game doesn't detect whether the key is let go or held down. I'm hoping to fix this issue, improve the controls, and add some more content soon!
