Donating Proceeds

If I released a game for $5 or $10, is there a way to have that money skip past me and go directly into a charity of choice?

Thanks.

I’m pretty sure that’s a no, unfortunately.

While I can’t say for certain that it won’t work, there might be a workaround if it really doesn’t: If it’s a “small” charity, you could talk with them about a shared account. They provide the various “money here please” as well as tax numbers and you upload (and maybe update) the game. You would both have shared access to the itch.io account in that scenario.

However: While doing charitable work is always a plus (as long as it’s an actual charity), there’s a chance that it might not be as ideal for your growth/popularity because of “online search reasons-BS, etc.” and it might be a little awkward to link back and forth between the accounts. That and people don’t read.

At the moment we don’t provide a way to collect funds directly on behalf of a charity. You would have to collect the money yourself and then send it. We may consider having a charity option in the future but I don’t have any timeline on that.

Thanks
