Account being restricted for no reason.

I'm a YouTube content creator, and I've always used Itchio as one of my main sources of content for my channel, always creating reviews and searching for games to make videos about. But, a few days ago, when I went to comment on a game, a message appeared saying that the comments were being reviewed due to "account conduct." However, I've always been respectful, never used profanity on this site, and always taken my account seriously.

I'm creating this topic because I tried contacting Itchio via email, as they themselves request on the website. It's been a week now, with no response or sign of life. This is delaying my work and my ability to attract an audience. I'd like to know if I'm the only one having this problem, or what I can do? Even creating a new account resulted in the same message... Frustrating.

If it takes much longer, you can post your ticket ID here as explained in the rules of this category. And creating a new account was probably taken as attempting to circumvent a ban, as explained in the site terms.

Hi! Sorry for the delay. I don't know which of the two is the correct ticket ID, so I'll post both. This email is from October 24th; there haven't been any emails about an account update. But honestly, just being able to talk to a moderator makes me happy.

The former, and I said if it takes much longer. In any event, I've let our admins know.

Understood, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your patience and I apologize for the anxiety. I'll be waiting for any updates, just as I've been waiting for emails too. But just talking to you makes me more hopeful. Thanks!

Still no answers or emails regarding their position on this.

Frustrating.

Did you fix this? Having the same issue

No, unfortunately it remains unfairly restricted.

I'm losing hope. I've ended up significantly reducing channel engagement because of this "comment review" time.

I would like to say that they fixed the account and now comments are no longer restricted. Thank you moderators, you were amazing. Much gratitude!

Any idea why this happened? The same thing happened to me and all I do is post my video links with my gameplay and feedback of the game I'm playing... I thought that's what this site was for.. :<

Before people started reporting this type of problem, it was quite common for users to report that their game comments were being flooded with bots posting malware download links disguised as game updates.

I don't see these posts anymore, but I do see many complaints about being restricted. Therefore, it seems that Itch has implemented some kind of automated filter that, in addition to stopping these bots, is generating false positives. To be clear, this is just a assumption.

That's still going on. It might be that the people that would complain on public message board already did. But I sure do hope, they block some of the spam effectivly. But experience with those malware uploaders lets me doubt that.

It's the usual games, the usual comments. I think they grab some of the feeds for updated games or something like that. Everytime I visit some of the feed games, I see such spam comments. The last only a few hours old from a hacked account no less.

I believe it was a mistake. Or some kind of bug, I don't know. Because, like you, I've never broken any site rules.

But as soon as I contacted the moderation team through the forum, they quickly fixed it. I suggest you do the same! Create a topic and ask for help.

Hopefully it gets fixed quickly, friend. It was hell while my account was restricted. (What the girl said also makes sense. It could possibly be a faulty anti-flood system that detected some word or something like that and restricted it by mistake... it's less likely, but not impossible.)
