Hi all! Please use this topic to ask for help with the game itself, such as where to go if you are lost.
Um, I feel ridiculous being stuck this early, but I tried pretty much everything-- I'm supposed to go see the mayor, I think ? At least that's way Jay is saying. I got two out of three old scrolls thanks to his other instructions, but for the love of me I can't find the mayor. There's our home, Damien's home, the shop, the tavern, the church, the cave, and none of them have the mayor ?
I guess I need the mayor's scroll to unlock the summoning thingy in the cave ? And/or the university ?
Right now at the university you can complete a few quests. Mainly, Xavier’s quest, tutoring, and the jobs available in the library. Regarding the summoning things, those are going to be used for optional boss fights that become available after completing certain tasks. For now, they aren’t implemented since the intention is for those fights to generally require you to be around the max level of 10 and I think the fights would get repetitive if you were grinding up that high at this point.
Welp, I made one of the most dumb mistakes possible. A little look behind the curtain, I work on different areas ahead of time, so a fair amount of planned areas already exist in the game, but are hidden behind event switches. Initially, the old campus was going to be part of a later release but I decided it had enough content ready for the first release. When I play tested, however, I turn the switch on so I can explore more of the map, so I failed to realize my mistake. Sorry about that!
The part where he's looking out over the cliff is the last bit of his story you can access now. He'll be a returning character who will show up in future updates though, so I'm glad you are interested in more of his story. You can gather crystals from three of the large crystal deposits in the cave. There is one orange one that doesn't supply any, this was a mistake on my part, so I'll fix that in the next patch, but you can still collect all the requisite crystals (you are correct, they are used at the summit). There is a large deposit of blue crystals at the top of the cave, far right, an orange deposit in the right middle across a bridge, and a purple deposit down a rope at the bottom left. Hope this helps.
Hey, um, I don't know why, but I can't launch the game. I changed computers since the last I played, but I'm still under windows.
Got that error text :
OS: Workstation, No ServicePack
CPU: Virtual CPU , Unknown, MMX @ 3220 MHz
Module name: C:\Users\yorth\Downloads\Dom_MinionV4.0\Game.exe
Have no idea what the fuck it means. Help ?Hi, are you running on a virtual machine? It looks like that might be the issue, so I would start there. You could try running it as an administrator as well, that might work. I’ll be honest, this is not my area of expertise, but I’ll take a look. If you happen to resolve it on your own, please let me know here so the fix can be posted.
okay, so ! I did a bit of research and tweaking in the property panel--I don't know if it's a compatibility error, but I had to go in the emulation settings and deactivate hybrid execution mode (? Not sure if it's the english name for that)
So, no idea what it means, what was the matter or even what is a virtual machine, but the game works ! (for now, at least. Although, I can't seem to find the settings menu in the game--was it removed, or is it just a side-effect ?)
Anyway, excited to see what's new !
How long is it supposed to take for night to fall? I waited about 20 minutes while checking periodically to get into the strip club but the game never switched to night. I also tried fighting several enemies and running around for a while, but neither seemed to have any effect on the in game time.
I was playing on a file carried over from older versions of the game, could that cause any issues? I also tried on a fresh save and, while I was not as thorough, I waited for a bit in the starting town and didn't see any sign of sunset there either.
The game counts 2 hrs in game time every 15 seconds, starting at the beginning of the day period. So the rotation is 1:15 of day, 0:15 sunset, 1:15 night, 0:15 dawn. That means the day cycles once every 3 minutes if you just stand in place. I tested this again and even timed it so I know it’s working on my end. I’m guess the problem lies with using the old file, since the game initializes the clock during the opening scene.
Keep in mind that the 15 second section resets if you move between maps (I don’t have a fix for that right now) so you can rush through maps and trick the timer a bit. I checked with the enemies though, they don’t seem to have the same issue, though the time doesn’t progress during the fight.
Try a new save and stand outside for a minute and a half, see if there’s any change. If not let me know and I’ll look harder. If it does work and other people are having similar issues, I could consider reducing the time for a rotation.
Awesome! I’m glad we figured out what was going on and I appreciate your patience. These first few updates involve a lot of adding to the mechanics, where a clean save might be necessary. The background stuff is mostly implemented at this point though so hopefully this should be less of a concern in future updates. Thanks for playing!
is there any content in the stripper location other than the strip show itself? i see the room on the left side, but wasn't sure if that's implemented.
Also, is it possible to take roids/other addictive/drugs yet?I haven't figured out how.
Really loving this game btw, thank you for working so hard on it!
Hiya. Yes there’s more content in the strip club. You need to attend the strip show with more than 500 gold and have an addiction to “adult bits” 5 or greater. That score raises by 1 when you attend the show, choose love from the fortune teller in the village, and lose to certain enemies.
You can use the drugs in battle right now. They also impact a separate addiction stat that has some implications, such as unlocking the dealer class and scaling the damage of certain attacks. They don’t have any specific scenes really though. Possibly in a future update.
Thanks for playing and I’m really glad you like it!
There are two possible ways to answer that question, so I’ll give both:
1. If you are talking about how to literally get around and advance through the area to completion, you need to go to the shiny spots in the right order. When you first enter, it gives you some dialogue. That dialogue hints at which location on the map that you need to go to. Once you’ve gone to the correct location, you’ll get new dialogue. This pattern repeats until you are taken to the other end of the puzzle where you can enter the ritual circle.
2. If you are trying to get through the plot to get the boss fight, you need to do the self improvement quest 3 times.
Let me know if you are still having trouble.
