Some feedback

Ello. Tried to play this 2 times.

both times did NOT manage to meet the quota, sadly. it just feels way too big for the time given.

Voice is bit too loud and bit too distorted to understand for nonnative speakers. maybe add some subtitles?

locking onto asteroids feels very janky. sometimes it is there sometimes it is not showing the circles. the "radar" on the dash doiesnt have actual holomap, that would be great aid in navigation.

constantly shifting PART of the background image is uncomfortable. space is pretty much static.
Why i cant see very far, for some reason? why things getting.. blacked out? in space, where is NO atmosphere and no dust? Also i barely could see the space station, and collision on it is not mathcing the visual part of model itself. I thought i had to actually navigate into some kind of corridor \ indentation to dock, but no, its jsut menu thing. apps "startup" animation is annoying and too long, especially considering that player will have to switch between them constantly.

Delay between mouseclick and mining laser start is very awkward. maybe add some kind of "spooling up" sound to telegraph it better?also why cant i see perscent of asteroid if im not actively "firing" my laser into it? it is locked, scanned...why i have to fire mah lazor to see how much is left
I assume there are enemies, but i never got to see them since i never managed to finish quota.
if you sacn asteroid, start mining it and then srcollwheel (adjust laser power), then mining bugs out, no resources given(asteroid still deplets and explodes). or at least there are no popups with amount of ores gained.

Asteroids with muliple ores, i mine it, but not getting ALL ores that it contains.. why?
Warp graphics are way to bloomy and flashy. interesting concpet, definitely will look for updates, tehre are not much games made in space that has mining as main loop.

Hello! And thank you for your feedback! We appreciate it!

We will definitely work on things related to user friendliness, such as subtitles, easier visuals, less junky mechanics, showing your PTI without firing the laser, making quotas easier in earlier days, better collisions, etc.

It is important to note a few things though: The thicker cloudiness in the game is simply there for looks, not realism. We found that without the fog, the game looks half baked and the screen is overwhelming to look at.

As for not finding the enemies, you must be a really lucky person! In the default waypoint, a fair amount are allowed to spawn and roam the map. It seems as if you've simply managed to stay well-hidden.

As for radar, the radar is simulated to behave as a real world pulse doppler radar. That is the source of the unreliable and jankiness you may feel when using it. Pressing "X" (which is meant to unlock a target) can "restart' the radar if it ever seems to be failing you.

Finally, as for no longer being able to mine the ore with different laser intensities, the game "simulates" the melting point of different materials. High intensities result in destroying the ore before extraction. Low intensities simply do not extract the ore. The asteroid gets damaged either way as long as the laser is on. The in-game handbook details each one's melting point and ideal laser range.

Please remember that this is merely the alpha release of this game. This page is merely a demo of our work so far and a way to collect feedback from users like you. We appreciate your thorough comments, and we'll adjust as much as we can to improve our game. Thank you very much, and I hope you can stay to see how we grow in the upcoming months!

(1 edit)

I do understnad what alpha is, yea)

Spacesim is very niche genre, and the one that brings me good nostalgia, thats why i went outta my way and actually tried towrite feedback for you.

i played x4, starlancer, freelancer and some more. Really want to see more of space games :)
About cloudness: i think my main issue is that it limits visibility in very strange way, "darkening" the objects but not the background. Adding some space fog \ dust at longer distance could help, instead of darkening maybe?
I will try it one more time to see the actual enemies. Only saw other miner bot so far.

For radar - controls a bit wonky, yea. maybe use same button for target \ untarget? (F \ T)

For laser intencity, what i meant is that it stops giving resources from tha astereroid, if i touch the scroll wheel while laser is active.

And for warp visual - maybe lower the intensity and the bloom, but add hidden  non-shadowcaster light in the midle of the cockpit, that will light up the cabin with same color as the warp visuals? i mean, there is literally sun surface outside but no light gets into the cabin and everything stays dark...
I definitely will look forward for updates on this

Developer

Hello again!

We have made some quick adjustments to the game based on your feedback, and we will continue to work on making our tutorial more intuitive and user-friendly. You may appreciate the following key changes:

 - Warp Brightness / Effects severely toned down

- Loading Speeds are twice as fast

- The laser no longer has a cooldown. It only has the 1 second charge-up. It should feel a lot more responsive now.

- Enemies move a bit slower. They were extremely fast before.

- The free-look keybind has been adjusted. Now, you only need to hold right click to look around. Right click + scrollwheel lets you zoom in and out.

We also want to clarify that there is no bug with the laser intensity, and that it works just as intended. Each ore has an ideal laser intensity range. If your laser is not at a range for any ore type inside of the asteroid, then you will not collect it.

Example:

An asteroid has only iron inside of it. Iron can only be mined at ranges of 25%-55%. You adjust the intensity to 56%. The laser continues to damage the rock, but now it melts the iron before it collects it, so you don't get anything.

All ideal ranges can be found in the in-game handbook.

We hope this update addresses some of your concerns. Thank you for your support!

I hope you dont mind more babbling about dis. Music is blastin too dam loud. 2 sliders for sound and music would be good(i know this means alot of work, to make proper audiobuses and markings, but hey, it is very useful qol)

Random cargo ejections(or asteroid bumps from behind) are annoyin and do not make sense. They jsut spawn outta nowehre(even in the spacestation viciinity!). Collision Avoidance System does jackshit, it beeps few milliseconds before thing hits. Rly annoying.

No way to put out annoying fire in the cockpit when damaged., it just.. there. Eating away our higly regulated(as tutoorial says) and insanely precious oxygen(supposedly, i suppose pilot kinda needs that mythical "oksigen" thing to breath or something, i duno, i never been to space)
And it just burns. in very smol enclosed sealed capsule. wher is not much oxygen to begin with.

TAB objectives and ingame computer ones do not match.

Sidecomputer hologram with programs stays on and interactavble during warp, but as soon as warp finishes - it closes itself for no reason
Reparing on the station empties your cargohold? Why? And it never fulfills the quota station asks for.

maybe add Q\E navigation between program windows? Since we dont have up\down movement on the ship
Tutorial in update seems to be broken and sotrts only after you pause unpause the game. I bought radar but i not sure if it works(it says secondary not installed in bottom left ship ui thingy)

Developer

Thank you for the additional feedback! We will add volume settings and a better hazard spawning system soon.

The fire does not eat up any extra oxygen. It's only there for cosmetic effect, to help indicate that your ship is badly damaged.

The TAB objective system shouldn't be there. We will remove it in the next update.

The UI closing itself after the warp is just to get you out of nav mode. It makes the transition from navigation to mining more seamless and less annoying, since you cannot lock targets and use your laser in nav mode.

Repairing near the station empties out your cargo hold just to punish you for not repairing after docking. I'll adjust it to be more fair in the next update though.

I'll see what I can do about adding easier tab navigation, or if I should add vertical movement. I'll also see what could be causing the problem with the tutorial.

Thank you for bringing these details to our attention! I will get back to you as soon as I release the next patch.
