Refunds for removed content?

There’s been a handful of reports of a FEW games/content being outright removed, and people’s access to the files they paid money for removed as well. Will those affected be getting refunds with this removed content, particularly in areas of the world that legally require this such as the European Union?

I have some NSFW games I have paid for myself that so far have not been outright removed, but seeing this happen with even just a few worries me greatly as someone that has purchased content from itch.io.

The other question is how that affects developers of those games. Traditionally developers aren't exactly swimming in cash. I know sales on my game have basically been helping keep me afloat for the last few years. If my game is one of the ones getting killed and mass-refunds start happening, there's no way I can financially handle that and you know that itch aren't going to cover the refunds. If they are going to start firing out refunds for years of sales then the only way developers can protect themselves might be to remove payment details completely.

I've seen them state in a few places that refunds will happen, but they need to be clear about both the seller and the buyer.

One question I do have is, has anyone come forward with proof that their purchased banned games no longer have download links? https://x.com/letsmaybeLP92/status/1948544883410829370 This user came forth with proof that they still have access to banned titles (while I shared proof what removed access to games looks like)

Our admins have said refunds will be issues, but no other details.
